Ermita de San Nicolás

We stayed at a pretty unique place last night: a small chapel converted to host pilgrims on their way to Santiago by an Italian Confraternity. They wore their ceremonial cloaks, they bathed our feet, kissed our feet and then cooked us a proper Italian dinner. Pasta carbonara, salad, bread, wine and a potato chorizo concoction. Mark and I were exhausted from a 30km walk and welcomed the hospitality. We dined by candle light as the chapel didn't have electricity.

Afterwards, our Italian guests took us outside and made us dance to Italian pop music from the 1960s and then sing a song that represented our home country. Our Italian host picked the song for Mark and I - Born in the USA by Springsteen - and belted it like he was at Shea Stadium in 1983.Read more
