Die ersten Tage auf Teneriffa 🇪🇸

Am Freitag ging es mit allen zusammen zum Strand. Wir gingen zunächst zur Busstation in Santa Cruz und von da aus mit der 910 zum Playa de Las Teresitas. Am Strand hatten die Schüler*innen dann Zeit für ihre erste Selbstreflexion. In unserem Ocean College Lernbuch gibt es etliche Seiten zur Selbstreflexion, die die Kids während der Reise immer mal wieder ausfüllen können bzw. sollen. Danach gab es dann Freizeit bis 15:30 Uhr, in der die meisten ins kühle Nass sprangen oder auch zum nächstgelegenen Strandcafé gingen 🍹
Nachmittags hatten alle dann noch einmal free-shore-leave und am Abend ging es dann noch eine Runde joggen 🏃🏽
Am Samstag führten wir mit den Schüler*innen einen Workshop zum Thema Sexualität durch. Es ging um Begrifflichkeiten, Diversität und Aufklärungsaspekte - die Schüler*innen waren sehr interessiert und arbeiteten fleißig und engagiert mit 📝
Vormittags legte dann gleichzeitig auch noch die Alexander von Humboldt II an, die mit kanadischen Student*innen eine ähnliche Reise(-route) wie wir verfolgen ⛵
Kurz vor dem Mittagessen gab es dann für unser Team noch einmal Zuwachs: Christian und Timo füllten die restlichen, freigewordenen Plätze auf und nun segeln wir in voller Stärke mit 33 Schüler*innen nach Kap Verden und über den Atlantik 🌊
Nach Ankunft der beiden gab es dann noch ein paar Kennenlernspiele in der Großgruppe, in denen sich die Schüler*innen nach Gemeinsamkeiten sortieren mussten sowie über tiefergehende Impulse austauschen sollten 🗣️
Am Nachmittag um 14:00 Uhr war es dann soweit: Die Kids bekamen zum ersten Mal ihre Handys ausgeteilt. Dieses wurde gleichzeitig mit einer free-shore-leave-Zeit gekoppelt und sie hatten bis 19:00 Uhr Zeit Kontakt zu ihren Liebsten aufzunehmen. Wir Lehrkräfte nutzten die Zeit und fuhren gemeinsam nach 'La Laguna' und erkundeten dort die City. Vor Ort gab es eine Art Fest, in denen viele Stände für Kinder bsow. sportliche Aktivitäten anboten ⛹🏽
Am Abend gab es nach dem Abgeben der Handys dann noch einmal eine Gesprächsrunde zum Workshop und nach dem anschließenden Abendessen (Dessert: Vanilleeis mit Nutellasoße) freuten sich alle auf die geplante Wanderung am nächsten Tag 🥾

The first days on Tenerife 🇪🇸

On Friday we all went to the beach together. We first went to the bus station in Santa Cruz and from there took the 910 to Playa de Las Teresitas. On the beach, the students then had time for their first self-reflection. In our Ocean College learning book there are several pages for self-reflection, which the kids can or should fill in from time to time during the trip. Afterwards, there was free time until 3:30 pm, during which most of them jumped into the cool water or went to the nearest beach café 🍹
In the afternoon, everyone had another free-shore-leave and in the evening we went jogging 🏃🏽
On Saturday, we held a workshop with the students on the topic of sexuality. It was about terminology, diversity and educational aspects - the students were very interested and worked diligently and with commitment 📝
In the morning, the Alexander von Humboldt II docked at the same time, following a similar journey (route) to ours with Canadian students ⛵
Shortly before lunch, there was another addition to our team: Christian and Timo filled the remaining vacant places and now we are sailing at full strength with 33 students to Cape Verde and across the Atlantic 🌊
After they arrived, there were a few games in the large group to get to know each other, in which the students had to sort themselves according to what they had in common and discuss more in-depth ideas 🗣️
In the afternoon at 2 p.m., the time had come: the kids were given their cell phones for the first time. This was coupled with a free-shore-leave time and they had until 7 p.m. to get in touch with their loved ones. We teachers used the time to drive to 'La Laguna' together and explore the city. There was a kind of festival there, with lots of stalls offering sports activities for children ⛹🏽
In the evening, after handing in the cell phones, there was another round of talks about the workshop and after dinner (dessert: vanilla ice cream with Nutella sauce), everyone was looking forward to the planned hike the next day 🥾
