Expedition Tag 2: Manuel-Antonio-Nationalpark 🦥

Der Tag startete um 07:30 Uhr. Während Ella für alle Pancakes machte, nutzte der Rest die Zeit zum Duschen, Aufräumen und für die weitere Tagesplanung. Gegen 09:00 Uhr gab es dann ein gemeinsames Frühstück im Innenhof unseres AirBnbs und um 09:30 Uhr ging es los Richtung Manuel-Antonio-Nationalpark. Hier hatten wir einen Timeslot zwischen 10:00 - 10:40 Uhr für unseren Eintritt gebucht. Wir fuhren mit einem Bus von Quepos zum Nationalpark (380₡) und mussten bis zum Eingang noch ein paar Gassen durchqueren, in denen viele Locals versuchten, an Verkaufsständen diverse Arten von Souvenirs zu veräußern 🎀
Angekommen am Haupteingang erfuhren wir, dass mitgebrachtes Essen nicht so gerne gesehen wird. Aber zum Glück hatten wir ja Ella dabei, die solche Situationen bravourös händeln kann und uns unsere zwei gekauften Baguettes durch die Taschenkontrolle lotste 🥖
Außerdem wurde uns zu Anfang klar gemacht, dass man nur mit einer geführten Tour auf jeden Fall wilde Tiere im Nationalpark sehen würde. Auch diese Verkaufsmasche durchschauten die Kids von selbst und hielten im Park einfach Ausschau nach Menschenansammlungen, um infolgedessen die lokalisierten Tiere mit eigenen Augen zu sehen. So sahen wir Affen, Faultiere, diverse Krebstiere, Leguane, Rehe, bunte Vögel, Tukane, Tapire und Schmetterlinge. Auf einer kurzen Wanderung sah ich dazu noch einen Kolibri, der vor meinen Augen in der Luft tanzte 🐒🦥🦀🦎🦌🦜🦋
Wir steuerten den Manuel Antonio Beach an und verbrachten dort den Mittag (12:00 - 14:15 Uhr). Ein bisschen schwimmen, ein bisschen Entspannung gepaart mit einigen Krebstieren und Leguanen. Um 14:15 Uhr schaute ich mir noch ein paar der ausgewiesenen Trails an, wobei es sehr schade war, dass der Trail zum 'Escondido Beach' leider gesperrt war. Um 15:00 Uhr trafen wir uns am Souvenirshop im Park und traten dann die Heimreise an. Auf dem Weg zur Busstation nahmen wir die Souvenirläden noch etwas genauer unter die Lupe, jedoch konnte kaum etwas das allgemeine Interesse wirklich wecken ❇️
Im Bus sitzend verabredeten wir uns zum Sonnenuntergang um 17:39 Uhr am Stadtstrand von Quepos. Bis dahin konnte jeder die Zeit zur freien Verfügung nutzen. Ich stieg zum Beispiel bereits im Ort 'Manuel Antonio' aus, um mir die Umgebung noch etwas genauer anzuschauen. Im Anschluss daran nahm ich dann den Bus nach Quepos, ging noch kurz in einen Supermarkt und lief - mit zwei Packungen Eis im Gepäck - zum verabredeten Standort. Um 17:30 Uhr - just in time - kam ich passend an und wir sahen gemeinsam einen wirklich schönen Sonnenuntergang 🌅
Zum Dinner gab es von Tilly gezaubert: Reis mit Bohnen, Patacones, Bananenchips und angebratene Karotten 🍛
Es wurde danach noch ein ungefährer Plan für den kommenden Tag aufgestellt, Zeit für Telefonate genutzt und zum Abschluss des Abends noch gemeinsam 'Toy Story' geschaut 📺
Morgen geht es dann für uns mit dem Bus nach San José 🚌

Der kurze Besuch eines sehr flinken Kolibris, die Ruhe am Strand sowie der gemeinsame Sonnenuntergang mit Eis 🍨

Expedition day 2: Manuel Antonio National Park 🦥

The day started at 07:30. While Ella made pancakes for everyone, the rest of us used the time to shower, tidy up and plan the rest of the day. At around 09:00 we had breakfast together in the courtyard of our AirBnb and at 09:30 we set off in the direction of Manuel Antonio National Park. We had booked a timeslot here between 10:00 and 10:40 for our entry. We took a bus from Quepos to the national park (380₡) and had to cross a few alleyways to get to the entrance, where many locals tried to sell various types of souvenirs at stalls 🎀
When we arrived at the main entrance, we found out that people don't like to bring their own food. But luckily we had Ella with us, who handled such situations brilliantly and guided our two baguettes through the bag check 🥖
It was also made clear to us at the beginning that you would only see wild animals in the national park with a guided tour. The kids also saw through this sales pitch on their own and simply kept an eye out for crowds of people in the park so that they could see the localized animals with their own eyes. We saw monkeys, sloths, various crustaceans, iguanas, deer, colorful birds, toucans, tapirs and butterflies. On a short hike, I also saw a hummingbird dancing in the air in front of me 🐒🦥🦀🦎🦌🦜🦋
We headed for Manuel Antonio Beach and spent lunch there (12:00 - 14:15). A bit of swimming, a bit of relaxation paired with some crustaceans and iguanas. At 2:15pm I checked out a few of the designated trails, although it was a shame that the trail to 'Escondido Beach' was unfortunately closed. At 3:00 pm we met at the souvenir store in the park and then started our journey home. On the way to the bus station, we took a closer look at the souvenir stores, but hardly anything could really arouse the general interest ❇️
Sitting in the bus, we arranged to meet at the Quepos town beach for sunset at 17:39. Until then, everyone could use the time at their leisure. For example, I got off at Manuel Antonio to take a closer look at the surrounding area. I then took the bus to Quepos, went to a supermarket and walked to the agreed location with two packs of ice cream in my luggage. I arrived at 5.30 pm - just in time - and we watched a really beautiful sunset together 🌅
Tilly had conjured up dinner: Rice with beans, patacones, banana chips and fried carrots 🍛
We then drew up a rough plan for the day ahead, spent time on the phone and ended the evening by watching 'Toy Story' together 📺
Tomorrow we'll take the bus to San José 🚌

My personal highlight:
A brief visit from a very agile hummingbird, the peace and quiet on the beach and watching the sunset together with ice cream 🍨
