After visiting the beautiful El Badi Palace we explored once again " the Souks in Medina " the old town with all the very busy streets and markets .
Finished the day in our favourite restaurant.

EL Badi Palace was built in 1578 by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur, the ruler of the Saadian Dynasty. The palace was built as a symbol of the Sultan’s power and wealth, and it was meant to be a grand display of his wealth and influence. The palace was built with a combination of traditional Moroccan and European styles, and it was decorated with intricate mosaics, marble columns, and ornate carvings. The palace was also home to the Sultan’s harem, which included over 500 women.Read more

La Mamounia Hotel

The morning we spend in the sun at the pool. Time to relaxe and to process all this amazing experience we have had so far. Then in the afternoon we visit the iconic Marrakech Hotel " La Mamounia " This hotel was build in 1923 and has been a mythical and opulent destination for a century. Well known visitors been here such as Charly Chaplin , Nelson Mandela ,Julio Iglesias, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Nelson Mandela, Tom Cruise and many and any one who can afford it.
The garden ist so beautiful and many artist got inspired here even Winston Churchill walked here along .
We spent the afternoon having tea, coffee and ice-cream. It was very interesting and we used the free WiFi 🫣😉 but also our feelings were mentally challenged. The experience and seeing to many very rich people and just behind these walls of the hotel was a very different way of life 🥹.Read more

Been so lucky and saw wild monkeys🐒.
Barbary macaque (Macaca sylvanus), also known as Barbary ape, is a macaque species native to the Atlas Mountains - Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and some in Gibraltar.
We enjoyed the beautiful view over the mountains with the red coloured villages in the distance and once climbed back down we enjoyed local food at one of the many local colourful restaurants right by the river .Read more

Trip to Atlas Mountains

Berber villages, Argan Oil woman co-operative,
Ourika Valley and the small village Setti-Fatma at the Atlas Mountain, nature and wild life-monkeys , waterfalls, scenic hikes, stunning views - and this all just 60km from Marrakech. We were also aloud to visit a Berber Haus from the inside and felt very grateful.

We spent the morning in our beautiful apartment at the pool side. We then took the taxi to the "New town - Gueliz " and walked all the way to the Cyber park, Koutoubia Mosque and Jemaa El Fna place to see the sunset . When the sun is going down the roof of the Mosque is even more golden.Read more

Exploring more of Medina the old Marrakech and visiting Saadian Tombs.
Saadian Sultan Ahmed Al Mansour Ed Dahbi was just as extravagant in death as he was in life. After the "golden king" built Badia Palace in the 16th century, he transformed an existing necropolis into this lavish tomb complex, sparing no expense and importing Italian Carrara marble and gilding honeycomb muqarnas (decorative plasterwork) with pure gold. Al Mansour died in splendour in 1603, but a few decades later, Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail walled up the Saadian Tombs to keep his predecessors out of sight and mind. The mausoleum lay forgotten until aerial photography exposed it in 1917.

Hannah also made a nice memorie by getting her own personal made silver ring - 18th birthday memory we'll spend.

In the evening we drove to our new accommodation. Which was an adventure to find it but also our suitcases were loose on the roof of the car not been fixed or secured ( see photo ).Read more

Another wonderful morning on the rooftop of Marrakech after a not so good night as our Riad had very beautiful but also very loud traditional life music playing.
Today we explored even more of the Souks This time without our guide. However in all the full streets we actually saw him whilst he had new tourists it was very lovely to see him again. We did managed to make our way true all the full streets and visit the beautiful "Palais Bahia".Read more

Good morning Marrakesch 🌞.
After breakfast we mat our Tourguide Amid We walked a lot and learned a lot.
Totally overwhelmed by all the beautiful colours, smell , buildings , art & craft and people whilst walking true the Souks. We visit Ben Youssef Medersa a Koranic school and Le Jardin Secret garden. We watched artisan craft such as metal work & leather work and tried our skills in bargening at the markets.
Finished the day with dinner at one of the roof top restaurants.
Exhausted in bed we listened to the traditional life Musik played inside our hotel.Read more

England to Marrakesch

What an adventure!
Very long travel from Bath to Bristol airport because of road closures.
Than delay for technical issues with the airplane. When we arrived at the airport in Marrakech it took us 2 hours until we came out. By then our pree booked Taxi left which we did not know so we kept waiting for another.
Anyway, once we found a new taxi we got driven to the middle of the square Jemaa el Fna the heart and sole of the city and made our way in the dark and 2 big suitcases to find our Riad. Our Riad was right in the middle of the Medina and close to the Souks.
We made it and enjoyed a welcome tee and food on the rooftops of Marrakech.Read more
