    And we are off 😌

    November 16, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

Hey there everyone. We departed a bit later than we anticipated but finally made it to Hee Hee Illahee RV Resort, located in the heart of the Willamette Valley. We are making a beeline for the border because it's VERY cold here, very thankful for the forced air heater in the pod 😁Read more

  • Oregon trails

    November 17, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Woke up nice and snug but it was absolutely freezing outside. We didn't put up our awning room addition but did that tonight and what a difference. I also bought a cheap electric heater to heat up the awning room. The drive was pretty good and we saw some nice changes in the landscape. I think we need to come back in the summer.Read more

  • Cali here we come

    November 18, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 61 °F

Well today we woke up a lot warmer with the awning room, night and day experience. We are traveling to Red Bluff CA where we had a RV park reserved but we decided that screw that, it's too cold, let's save camping for Mexico and let's staying in hotels until then! Anyway, landscape changes were awesome, Mount Shasta views were amazing and the drive was spectacular. I treated Tracey at the most expensive steak restaurant in Red Bluff, CA for her birthday ... it's also the ONLY steakhouse in Red Bluff 😂😂Read more

  • Short stay in Auburn

    November 20, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Holly and Dennis in Auburn. We first visited Old Town Auburn which was amazing and then headed to Holly. They put on an exquisite dinner and lathered us with the best wines. Dennis is a real ham radio guy and I seriously could have stayed another week. They have the most amazing view! Murphy has a TikTok ... watch ... sorry Holly 😂Read more

  • Just north of the border

    November 23, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

Well, so we decided to skip LA and spend and extra day in San Diego in a luxury KOA RV park ... styling. We have had wonderful weather and went to hang out in La Jollaroday. Tomorrow we set off for Guadalupe Valley for 3 nights ... yay .. wine country!Read more

  • Just south of the border

    November 24, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ 🌙 61 °F

The border crossing was a breeze I think because it was Thanksgiving. We stopped along the shore for a well deserved beverage and then headed to the Guadalupe valley and are staying on a wine resort 😁.Read more

  • Valle de Guadalupe day 2

    November 25, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ 🌙 61 °F

At first this place looked like there was not a lot to do but the more we explored the more we realized that there is so many wineries and amazing restaurants that it would take us a month to explore them all and that that would probably bankrupt us 😂. Joking aside, we are blown away by the level of quality and professionalism of everyone involved here. Also, the cocktails are some of the best we have ever had. Small downside is that most land is private so we had a hard time finding anywhere to go for a hike. We visited Casa FRIDA in the evening for a tequila and wine pairing in this amazing room with local art, very enjoyable.Read more

  • Last day in the valle

    November 26, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 68 °F

We spent a lazy day and found an awesome restaurant called Bloodlust, definitely the best pork belly I have ever had! Cocktails were pretty spectacular as too. Then in the evening we went to Casa FRIDA and did a wine pairing in the speak easy. What an experience...wow. The speak easy was dedicate to Chavela Vargas, a well known Mexican singer who had a relationship with Frida apparently .. that was quite the thing back in the day. http://www.chavelavargasfilm.com/chavela-vargasRead more

  • San Quintin

    November 27, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

We headed out this morning and went through the military checkpoint and didn't stop! Today we headed to San Quintin and planned to stay at a small site on the beach in our pod but the wind was quite strong and it was COLD 🥶 so we decided to stay at a small hotel called Hotel Jardine. What an amazing little hotel, felt very colonial. The next day we decided to take a drive to the the camp site and hike a bit. It was a wonderful hike and the dogs absolutely loved the freedom. We had lunch at a small restaurant and wow, the seafood was so fresh and delish and very inexpensive.Read more

  • On to Cataviña

    November 29, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

Cataviña has a special place in my heart. It's stunning huge white boulders and enormous cacti makes it almost look alien. We spent a night out i the cactus and boulder fields to experience the absolutely stunning views of the stars since there is very little light pollution. We also did a hike to see the cave paintings.Read more

  • Breakfast on the road

    December 1, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 57 °F

Stopped for a bite to eat at Chapala at this really cute restaurant right after the junction with 5. Lovely breakfast and some interesting art. All the furniture and walls are made from dried cactus.

  • Guerrero Negro

    December 1, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

We decided to cut our trip in Cataviña short because of worsening weather later next week at the winery we had booked. We brought it forward by 5 days so now we will have sunshine for most of our time there. We pressed on to Guerrero Negro and found only a singe hotel/motel that had availability and it was at the glorious Halfway hotel on the border of Baja California and Baja Sur. It was super cheap and quite nice. I don't have many pics of the hotel so Tracey will add a footprintRead more

  • San Ignacio for lunch

    December 2, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

Had to stop at one of my favorite towns in Baja! It has a beautiful square and a mission. We had some refreshments and tacos ... delish.

  • Mulegé for 5 days

    December 2, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

Aaah, time to relax. We are staying on a vineyard (unfortunately they are not fully in production yet) in a lovely house next to the winery. We are 5 minutes from the lovely town of Mulegé.

  • Laundry day

    December 3, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

We had a great load of laundry so we headed to town and dropped it off ... it's so inexpensive here to have someone do your laundry ... I feel so bad. We also explored the town a bit and had a bite to eat.Read more

  • Mulegé mission

    December 5, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 72 °F

Yup, another mission. Apparently there are many missions in Baja and his in Mulegé is amazing. We went around the back and what an oasis

  • Goodbye Mulegé

    December 6, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 72 °F

Our last night on the vineyard! Had to say goodbye to the sweetest dog, Pedro. We head to Playa santispac tomorrow for a few nights on the beach, can't wait.

  • Santispac

    December 9, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

So, quite a lot of people here but it's still absolutely beautiful. The sunsets and sun rises on the Bahia Concepcion are breathtaking. It's not too warm here so Tracey is all bundled up and we had a few windy days. Bonus is we got to see the Netherlands vs Argentina match at the Mulegé brewery!! And the weather is getting hotter.Read more

  • Loreto, we like you!

    December 12, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 79 °F

We ended up staying an extra few days at Santispac, and why not :) We are now in Loreto, a cute little town on the east coast. It has an amazing little historical area with a lovely Malacón or, as we would call it, a boardwalk. Every night, no matter what day, you have guys cruising up and down, playing their music, as you see in the sixties movies .. so cool. We stayed at a typical Mexican hotel right on the beach, and it reminded us of the hotel we stayed at many years ago when we first started coming to Mexico, except it wasn't falling down. We had a lovely few days and found the best margaritas in town and a brewery!

Unfortunately we also had one the worst meals I think I have ever had in my life, and it was the steakhouse right next to the mission with a fantastic setting and view. Next time, don't choose a restaurant in a tourist area :)

  • La Paz

    December 15, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F

We are in La Paz for 4 nights. This is one of my favorite cities in Baja. It has a population of 240,000 and feels very vibrant and not too touristy. There are many fabulous restaurants and we loved walking the back streets through all the local shopping allyways and markets. It here that you also find the best street food. We are staying in a b&b in the commercial district which is a short walk from the malecon.Read more

  • Playa Al Pastor

    December 19, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ 🌙 73 °F

We stayed for four nights ona beach just outside Todos Santos that I stayed back in February this year. Last time I could see the ocean from where I parked but 10 months later it is not visible! Looks like some big event reshaped the entire beach and now there is a small cliff where the sand meets the ocean ... quite amazing. Todos Santos is a really cute town with many shops and great restaurants. Unfortunately it has become very touristy and VERY expensive so much so that it may be more expensive than Seattle!!! Anyway, we had a great time here.Read more

  • Christmas in Cabo

    December 24, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ 🌙 70 °F

Yay!! The girls have arrived. Flights were a disaster and we still don't know know they made it but make it they did. Spent the next day relaxing and then preparing for Christmas Eve feasting and partying! Made a paella and opened a few nice bottles of wine. MJ and Adrian brought two lovely bottles of tequila!Read more

  • Christmas day

    December 25, 2022 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

We celebrated Christmas away from home for the second time since the kids were born. We decided to not buy gifts this year since we were traveling and Tracey said we would buy stocking stuffers. Well, I think I should have had her clarify what a sticking stuffer is ... there were some "really" excellent stuffers 😂. Another change was that decided not to cook on Christmas days and went to the beautiful Acre restaurant with the Lams!!Read more
