    June 20, 2016 in England ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

Wow. We just saw the Rosetta stone. The real actual one! It however was hard to get a picture because of the throngs of people wanting to see it. The first room of the Ancient Egypt exhibit is amazing.Read more

  • Found them!

    June 20, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

The Elgin Marbles. A collection of statuary and pretty much the entire frieze from around The Parthenon in Greece. This is what survived the weather, the Persians, and various and sundry explosons and intentional defacements.Read more

  • On my own

    June 20, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Headed out to hear a debate hosted by IQSquared and the BBC on whether Obama was a failed president. Afterwards am basking in the glow of Parliament and the shadow of Churchill.

  • Sssshhhhhh. Waiting.

    June 21, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Nicholas chillin at the base of Churchill statue and Caroline posing in front of parliament. There is a gate/security that blocks entry to Downing Street, but Caroline knows someone who knows someone that can get is past the guardpost and right up to 10 Downing. Ssshhhhh. Will keep you posted.Read more

  • Downing Street

    June 21, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

So Downing Street has been blocked of with a gate and security guardpost since the Thatcher era out of fear of IRA bombers. Here is the view from outside the gate.

  • 10 Downing Street

    June 21, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Apparantly, if you know someone who knows someone who works for a junior minister, they can get you past security, and see 10 Downing directly. He apologized for not being able to get us a tour inside, but things are pretty busy due to the Brexit vote in two days.

As it was, as we were getting pictures taken, we had to keep moving from in front of the door as people came in and out. Even Nicholas thought this was cool.

    So , here we are!

  • Corfe Castle

    June 23, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Eight hundred years old and showing its age. Actually would still be standing today if it weren't for that treacherous Cromwell.

  • Durdle

    June 23, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Who names a door. And who names it 'Durdle'. This is the Durdle Door. Forty-five degree incline to get down to the beach, and back up. Cool weather but we're all sweating.

  • Stonehenge!

    June 24, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

    Where the demons dwell.
Where the banshees live and they do live well.
    Stonehenge! Where a man's a man,
And the children dance to the Pipes of Pan.

  • Bath

    June 24, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

The Roman Baths have been renovated many times over the centuries, but the original baths were built in the first century AD. Temples were added in the next 300 years. I have confirmed, the water is quite warm.Read more

  • Supper

    June 24, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

The sun is out now and we are hungry before heading back to the hotel. So we've stopped at The Cowshed for some chow.

  • Tankfest Day 1

    June 25, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

This is the staging area where the tanks and vehicles sit before they run them out onto the display track. We love the smell of oil and diesel smoke early in the morning.
