    Day one. The Pyrenees

    5 septembre 2018, Espagne ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

Well the first real day is done and over, 10 hours walking, mountains! Today was the hardest day of my life physically, mentally and emotionally. Was I first? No. Was I the fastest? No. Was I the slowest? No. Was I last? No. That's the point. It's not the destination it's every damn thing in the middle that makes the journey worth it.En savoir plus

    Day Two. Onwards to Zubiri

    6 septembre 2018, Espagne ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

A much shorter day only 23kms but I felt every step! Starting to get a few aches n blisters so resting up early in a "nice" group dorm. Luckily I sleep well, there are a lot of people who snore in this place. Dinner was had at 4pm, but needed every piece of it, now just resting up and chatting to some fellow pilgrims!En savoir plus

Just one of many bridges to cross overJust imagine what it would really be like to be running with the bulls !

    Day Three. PAMPLONA

    7 septembre 2018, Espagne ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Well that was by far the hardest day yet! The blister are present and making themselves known. The pilgrims hostel we stayed in last night, people don't know that Windows open and doors have to be shut!! Horribly humid and smelly (and not dirty clothes either) work up sick as anything, not a good start. After a rocky downhill trek, I decided that my Camino ment the bus to Pamplona where I could see the sights at my own pace, enjoy it and rest my feet. So far I'm glad I did, just a beautiful place 🇪🇸🐃🐂🐃🇪🇸En savoir plus

    Day 4. Puente le Reina

    8 septembre 2018, Espagne ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

I didn't walk with the others today, I had a day to myself. It was so amazing, walking the streets of Pamplona, the path the running of the bulls take, having fresh ham & cheese sandwiches in the sun. Then i took the journey to Puente le Reina to meet everyone and currently sitting on our rooftop terrace enjoying the sun awaiting their arrival, its Saturday night so should be good. Buen Camino!!En savoir plus

    Day 8. Najera

    12 septembre 2018, Espagne ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Arriving in Najera, another beautiful place. After breakfast in Ventosa I was off, got a good 15kms in today, so slowing picking back up again, its my "way" and that's what I keep learning, listening to myself, not others and having an exceptional experience.

We are staying in a beautiful little hostel tonight, with our own shower and a courtyard that overlooks the mountain cliffs.

On to out next destination tomorrow, just a short 20kms so I think that the last few days have been a good build up for me.

    Until then Buen Camino

YES! Made it. A full 24Kms day walking but made good time. Body is slowing learning to ignore the aches and just get into a good rhythm. So proud of my progress today, no stopping from being out of breath and managing to get up and down the hills. Finding roads now the most painfull on the joints.En savoir plus

    Day 10. Belorado

    14 septembre 2018, Espagne ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Walked all day today, the whole way again. Finally found my autopilot and the body just falls into stride. Had the most amazing tortilla (Spanish omlette) from the grumpiest old man 😂 but it wasn't a bad walk today. Feeling very proud of myself, just very very sore ankles b knees so having a half time nap, then on to food and the evening.

Check out today but, seen both the sunflowers and poppies. Sunflowers for days, reminds me of eating the seeds out of dad sunflowers in the garden growing up. These were the two things I wanted to see and I now have. Also seen the onion fields and some snow peas.

    Day 14. Hornillos de Camino

    18 septembre 2018, Espagne ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

After a day or rest, actually resting!! We've walked day 14 to Hornillos. I feel like today was one of my hardest days yet, so dry, the heat, the stones, the sun, the blisters resurfacing and the aches. But I'm here! I can tell myself I can do it and I can do it, exhausted but I can do it. The lovely hostel owner seen me struggle on arrival, pure exhaustion, she took my bag off my back, sat me on a big couch and fanned my down, never have I needed such a simple gesture so much and she new it! That's another point of this journey to help regardless of age, language barrier or finances. I will be forever grateful.En savoir plus

    LEON - Rest Day

    26 septembre 2018, Espagne ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

Had a lovely lay in bed this morning just resting, home cooked bacon & eggs followed by terrace coffee in the sun, before washing some clothes and resting. Visted the amazing cathedral in Leon and finished the day with some drinks. Met up with some younger pilgrams for dinner in a little local resturant and fished with a walk around town. Snuck back into the apartment in the evening and fell asleep ready to start the day walking tomorrow! Buen Camino xxEn savoir plus
