    Galle to Columbo

    10. januar 2025, Sri Lanka ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

    We got up before dawn and went for a walk around the fort town. Lots of people were out exercising I the coolest part of the day.

    We returned to the hotel to find be coffee waiting for us outside the room. We sat on the balcony for a while having our coffee before showers.

    We then went for our 5 course breakfast before packing up and waiting for our car to take us to Columbo.

    We had a 2.5 hour drive north in a very hot car, the driver seemed to not understand how hot we were but we made it in the end!

    We checked in to the Galle Face Hotel, a historic hotel on the Colombo waterfront. Dated luxury.

    After dropping our bags in the room we went for a buffet lunch. The waiters tried to do some sort of scam and didn’t like it when I asked to sign the bill. The second bill was completely different from the first!

    We had a relax to let the lunch go down and then in the evening went out on Galle Face Green walking and looking at the locals.

    In the evening went had a beer and shared a pizza before having a look around the hotel museum and bed.    Læs mere

    Colombo

    A leisurely start with a good buffet breakfast before our city tuk tuk 🛺 tour. We met our guide in the lobby and we zoomed off around the city. We visited different temples, the town halls, markets and then went for a tea experience (read, someone trying to sell you expensive tea) and lunch in a very local cafe.

    After the tour we were dropped back at the hotel and after a quick change we got a tuk tuk to the mosque and spent some time walking around the streets and the market. Eventually we arrived at Dutch hospital and then got a tuk tuk to the mall so we could get supplies. From there we walked back along the green to the hotel.

    In the evening we went walking on the green again and made it back to the hotel in time to see the bagpipe ceremony.

    In the evening we stuffed ourselves with the dinner buffet including the much needed salad 🥗!    Læs mere

    Colombo to Negombo

    12. januar 2025, Sri Lanka ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

    We awoke to heavy rain so no morning walk. Instead we took a while over breakfast. We checked out of our hotel and got a taxi north to our first hotel in Negombo.

    Here we checked in and picked up the suitcase we left a few weeks ago. After a cuppa we went for a walk and managed to finally get some souvenirs.

    In the evening we went for pizza before an early night.    Læs mere
