Winter in the Mai Chau valley

It’s a bit cooler in the mountains! Yesterday, we ate delicious northern Vietnamese fare, and drank shots of rice wine, in jackets and toques. Today was a lovely grey day for a long, green bike ride through rice fields (all recently harvested), and small villages. We were joined by a surprise escort, a village dog (“Snuffles”) who stayed with us for over an hour. Now i am waiting for a sunset in front of our little villa... but I just don’t think it’s going to penetrate this thick white sky... I’m not complaining - it’s very peaceful here!Read more
