    Krakow

    Beautiful night out for dinner and walk around the square. Apparently Krakow centre was untouched by WW11 so has preserved it's original form. Not commercialized like Prague. One of Europe's unspoilt cities.
    We are staying in old part of Krakow at Hotel Unicus. Perfect choice. Lovely room. Right in the square. Will have to get Ainsley to be a travel agent!    Læs mere

    Went to Auschwitz concentration camp today. Did not take many photos as it did not feel right to record this misery.
    Don't know how humans can treat other humans so cold blooderlie. Very sombre feelings when viewing this tradergy.
    This camp was actually solid brick buildings. Use to be the Polish army barracks.    Læs mere

    Poland . Auschwitz- Birkenau

    When Auschwitz got too full the prisoners were made to build a new camp not too far away where they could be close to places where they were made to work. This camp was called Birkenau. This was built out in farm land and built of wood. Conditions were atrocious. Freezing cold in winter and very hot in summer. All Jews were gased and burnt. Fit prisoners were kept for work. Up to 90000 people in this camp. Women were used for experiments. Train loads of prisoners were sent there. Doctors picked healthy males for work. Old people,sick people,kids and pregnant women were exterminated. So bloody Cruel!Læs mere

    Our last day in this lovely place. So hot....went shopping in the mall to cool down! Bought two tops from bargain bin...He! He!. Went and saw part of the old wall surrounding the square. Also went for a romantic horse ride.

    Still at the markets. Bought a bag of blackberries and raspberries. OMG...they were so big and sweet. Graham and John ate the nectarines...so sweet and juicy. Graham had to buy his spicy bier stick...yummy. Diet is down the gurgler. Bought 2 girls hungarian dress and Libby a top. Boys got boring t-shirts. Meet lady outside who was dressed in Hungarian costume and she recommended we go to their hungarian restaurant. So we are all going to go to their restaurant tonight for dinner.Læs mere

    Hungry

    Our last night in Hungry. Went to a Hungarian restaurant and ate hungarian food and drank hungarian wine. Yummy. Reminds me of my mums cooking. Not as good but still yummy. Ainsley and Graham had stuffed cabbage. I had chicken paprika with gnocchi. John had a pork dish. Gizi and Anna Marie had a fish dish.

    Our last day in Hungry. We all went to Gizi s place for a cup of coffee. She got us a lovely ice cream cake. Yummy.Very sad to go. Gizi and Anna Marie had a cry. Glad to see us but sad to see us go. Great to catch up with them. She hasn't changed much.
    We boarded our boat this afternoon. Our boats name is Ama Reina. Lovely boat. Eat and drink as much as you like for free. Will be the size of a house by the time I get home. Beautiful warm night. After dinner we sat on deck and enjoyed the views. What a way to go.    Læs mere

    We set sail today at lunch time. Had a yummy lunch. After lunch went up to the top deck for a swim. Bar at the end of the pool with built in bar stools. Very stressful afternoon drinking cocktails. Our nice weather is breaking later today and we are heading into thunder and lightning. Yuk. Today we are sailing up to Venice. Arrive tomorrow. Some beautiful homes along the river. Also lovely old buildings and fortsLæs mere

    Last night we had a few drinks and were the last ones to go . Today we arrived in Vienna at about lunchtime. We passed through some locks and it bought back memories of our family boat trip in France (He! He!) The lock was different. It dropped down instead of opening like a gate.     After our quick afternoon tour we went back to the boat for an early dinner as we were going to a classical concert at the City Palais Liechtenstein. What a beautiful palace. No wounder the poor people rebelled when they wasted so much money on such extravagant buildings. We got all dressed up and had drinks before the concert in this most beautiful room. Chandelier and gold on the walls. After drinks we listened to a great orchestra playing music by Strauss and Mozart. Very dynamic display by young musicians. Also the Vienna boys choir now allows girls to join this Academy and we had a group of young girls sing to us. Also had a young lady sing a aria and a spunky young guy sung a tenor. Awesome night. We are getting culturally sophisticated.Læs mere

    To day we went to Schonbrunn Palace. It is the most famous and beautiful palace in Vienna. This is the summer palace of the Habsburgs who ruled much of Europe for over 600 years. The most influential ruler to have lived here was the famous Maria Theresa. Amazing place but not as good as Versailles. Lovely carriages. Beautiful gardens and statues.Læs mere
