• Day 14

    Bunyaroo Gorge Scenic Drive

    February 23 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Our alarm was going 6 am so we had an early start of the day. It's getting out again today, not as hot as yesterday but still around 33 degrees. So after Breakfast we packed up and left camp to drive to Bunyeroo Gorge. We planned to do the walk there. The drive there was already stunning with beautiful views so we stopped a few times along the way. As we arrived in Bunyarro Gorge I heard a pfff and quickly found a hole in our left front tyre. So we jumped back into the car to get back to the main road before the tyre is completely flat. Too bad we missed out the walk in Bunyarro Gorge, we didn't stop at Brachina Gorge either. Just driving around 20 km back to the main road. We made it after what felt like ages. Unfortunately there was no cellphone connection there so we had to drive all the way to the Wilpena Pound Visitor Center. The couple we talked to last night was about to leave from there so they stopped to ask if we were ok. He figured out how to take down the spare tyre but we went for the safe way and called Roadside assistance and they organized a mechanical that came out to change the tyre. Chris was so nice to take with the broken one to his shop in Hawker to see if it's repairable. If not he has a tyre for us, so we will stop at his shop tomorrow on our way to Port Augusta. After waiting 2 1/2 at the Visitor Center we went back to camp to spent the afternoon relaxing at the pool and reading a little bit.Read more
