  • Blowholes & Salmon Holes

    17. mars, Australia ⋅ 🌬 22 °C

    Next up, the Blowholes.
It was a little walk down the hill from the carpark to the Blowholes and my legs didn't like it at all. I'm really starting to feel all my sore muscles now.
It's super windy and the ocean has some nice waves but not enough for the Blowholes. You can really hear the sound in the video and even see some mist coming out at least. Otherwise super beautiful nature out here again. I just love this coastline, so magical.
The way back up to the carpark was a nightmare. My legs are hurting so bad now 🙈😂
Would never be able to climb Bluff Knoll today. Never ever..

Next up Salmon Holes. The wind was so strong and cold here so I just took some pictures and left again. Really view from the carpark!

  • The Gab & Natural Bridge

    17. mars, Australia ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

I quickly checked in into the campground because like this I don't need to stress out later to be back before 5 pm for check in.
After checking out my side and a quick toilet break I was back on the road, Torndirrup National Park next!
The first stop was at the Gap and the Natural Bridge.
Really cool place and amazing to see. Super windy here but nice and warm anyway.

  • Bluff Knoll Stirling Range National Park

    17. mars, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

I woke up around 6 am the first time but managed to sleep one more hour but never got up before 8:30 am because it was sooo cold. Had to sleep with warm socks, jogging pants and a pullover because it was so cold over night. I think under 10 degrees.
So I had a nice breakfast and a hit tea to start the day. And then I was ready to hit the road. My plan was to do the Bluff Knoll Walk today. Well, doing two big hikes up the mountains yesterday wasn't such a good idea 🙈
I drove to the carpark and when I looked up to Bluff Knoll I was defeated. No way I am doing this walk today. My stomach said no and I am listening to my stomach. So I had a nice view from the carpark, perfect weather and then I left to drive to Albany. I enjoyed the drive through the Stirling Range National Park and took many pictures.

  • MT Trio

    16. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

We were both motivated, so next up MT Trio.
Michelle wanted to do the Bluff Knoll but the top is in the clouds and here the sky is starting to clear up a little bit so we think and hope we get a little bit of a view 🤞
I quickly grabbed a wrap and then we were off at 12.56 pm.
Holy Moly that was a tough one. Steep up the hill it goes right from the beginning. Stairs after stairs in all different sizes.. not one step was as the one before or after. My legs were burning.
It's only a short walk, 3 km but it was so steep for the first half of the trip. I had to stop so many times to catch my breath, relax my muscles and try to motivate myself to keep on going. I think, if I was alone I would have turned around at some point. But together we made it and suddenly the steep part was over and I was just a nice stroll up to the top.
And the view was amazing!! Still cloudy but with some sunny parts. That was just super special. Unfortunately the wind up here was ice cold and we had to start to walk back down quite soon. 1,5 km back and 370m down. Crazy.
The way back down was a tough as the way up. Can't believe we made it up, it was so fucking steep.
We met a couple that was on the way up and motivated then to keep going for the last part
We were back at the carpark at 3:05 pm so it took us a little bit over 2 hours! 💪
From here we drove to the Bluff Knoll Cafe for a nice ice cold drink. Talked a little bit and said farewell.
I drove the campground from here.
Nice and simple campground at Mt Trio. I met the couple from the Mt Trio walk and we talked the whole rest of the afternoon and evening. Kelly and Shan are from Ireland but have been living here for a few years already. They were so funny and we had such a great time talking and freezing together. It was getting really cold in the evening. And the night was also so cold, around 11 degrees only!

  • Granite Skywalk CastleRock Porongurup NP

    16. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

I was up early this morning. It's a cloudy day.
But it should not rain so much today.
So I got up, had breakfast and left the campground at 8:30.
Went to quickly buy some crackers and needed to fuel up. Fuel is cheaper here than anywhere else so far. But driving around the city center I saw a gas station that was really cheap. 1,66$ per liter! Amazing. Extra turned around to get there to fuel up.
After that I drove to the Porongurup National Park.
Also here it's very cloudy and only 18 degrees.
But I was motivated to do the Granite Skywalk. Nice walk up the hill. Only a few steep sections otherwise it was a nice flow. It's a 4,4km return track. With around 270m elevation.
At the end I had to climb over some rocks to get to the Skywalk. Unfortunately no good view with the clouds but it was still definitely worth it to go all the way up. On the way down I had to wait a few times for people that were climbing up. So I started to talk to a German girl, Michelle and we ended up walking all the way back together.
I was back at the car park after 1 hour and 45 minutes. That was a nice one!
I even saw some black cockatoos but had no change to take a picture of them. They are flying around here everywhere. I saw them quite a few times while driving.

  • Middleton Beach & Ellen Cove Broadwalk

    15. mars, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Next up Middleton Beach and Ellen Cove Broadwalk.
It's only 20 degrees today and the water was full of people, mostly teenagers.
I am freezing and they are swimming 🙈😅
Nice and easy walk along the coast. I was only doing a part of the walk and then turning around, because I had to check in before 4:30 pm and it was already after 3:40 pm..on the way back I saw this little Bandicoot! It was so cute, just kept on doing his stuff. Didn't care at all about me. Amazing! They are actually nocturnal animals so it's not so common to see them during the day. Lucky me 🥰
After that I checked in at the campground. Clouds were coming back and we had a few short rain showers during the evening. Fingers crossed for the weather tomorrow. Much to do..

  • Albany National Anzac Center

    15. mars, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Calm morning with some short rain showers. I was able to sit outside for breakfast but shortly after I was done it started to rain a little bit. Unfortunately it just got more and more... Yeah. Packing up everything and ready to hit the road at 10 am.
First stop, the pharmacy, I need some probiotics for my stomach. I should have done that before..
Next stop, the supermarket because while I was eating breakfast I saw a small spot of mold on my bread...
Next up, fueling up. Until now it was raining like hell.. yeah.. changed my plan, instead of going to the Stirling Range National Park now, I drove to Albany. It's better to be in a town when it's bad weather, close to many nice places to explore if the weather is nicer than expected.
It was raining almost all the way, just stopped 30 min before I reached Albany at 1 pm. Got some information from the I-side.
And went to the Albany Heritage Park with the National Anzec Center. I came here for the lookouts not so much the history stuff, but I was expecting the rest too, at least a little bit.
Had some trouble finding a campground but got one eventually.

  • Bremer Bay

    14. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Shit day. Was waking up around midnight feeling unwell in the stomach. Wasn't getting better until 3 am so I decided to take some meds. Was getting a little bit better but still feeling unwell and unable to sleep... So I had to cancel my Orca tour today. Can't go on an 8 h boat trip out to the open ocean when the stomach is already upset. Wonder what I was eating to get this reaction..
Well it was raining the whole night and morning... I started to feel better around 11 am so I had a small piece of bread.
The rain stopped a round 1 pm but we had some small showers in the early afternoon. Was basically just trying to sleep and rest the whole day. Was able to eat more and more and got really hungry in the evening after a short but nice walk to the beach closed to the campground.

  • Wellstead Museum & Cafe

    13. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

The last stop for today was the Wellstead Museum and Cafe. Was here shortly before they closed so I just grabbed a muffin and had just a short look around the area.
Really nice old houses. And I even saw some kangaroos.
Then I went to the campground. I did some washing and was waiting for the rain to start... Should rain a lot over the night... We will see..

  • Blossom Beach & Native Dog Beach

    13. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Next up, Blossom Beach ( first four pictures).
Couldn't find a track down the beach except the 4WD track. I was not feeling for walking down that track so skiped it and turned right to walk to Native Dog Beach. And wow, what a beautiful beach! While Blossom Beach is full of cars and people, at Native Dog Beach there were only three other people. A surfer and a couple. My personal paradise! The waves were massive so no swimming here!
Had another relaxing time here. Before the clouds were getting more and more and it was time to leave and go explore more.

  • Little Boat Harbour Beach

    13. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

After a hot night in Jerramungup I woke up around 6 am because it was sooo warm in the car. I opened more windows and tried to sleep a little bit more but gave up before 7 am and was reading for a while before I got up to have breakfast.
Quick stop at the supermarket for some stuff i needed and I was ready to hit the road. Bremer Bay next. Hot day again. Quickly over 30 degrees but I like it and don't complain because bad weather is coming in the next few days so it's just to enjoy it.
It was only one hour to Bremer Bay. Quick stop at the information center and the plan for today is set. First stop, Little Boat Harbour Beach. What a beautiful place!
I sat here for like an hour to enjoy the nature and the beautiful weather. Forgot my swimsuit in the car and was too lazy to walk back up the hill to the car park 🙈
When I finally left, already on the road up the hill a guy on the beach spotted a stingray. I saw it cruising around from up there. So cool.

  • Mulka's Cave

    12. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 35 °C

It was only a short drive from the Wave Rock to Mulka's Cave.
Still hot but dark clouds hanging low. The cave is really cool, smaller than expected but with nice paintings from the aborigines.
Here you can also walk up on the rock but it was starting to rain just as I was wondering if I could do the walk or not. So I went back to the car and started to drive back to Ravensthorpe. I did rain sometimes on the way back, but not as much as it was supposed to.
As I was feeling good when I reached Ravensthorpe I decided I can keep on going until Jerramungup, where I will stay tonight.
Calm evening for me, I arrived here at 5 pm. And went to bed around 9:30 pm.

  • Wave Rock + Hippos yawn

    12. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 34 °C

Woke up early after a good night, had breakfast and was ready to leave camp at 8:30 am. Time to drive 200km to the Wave Rock.
I hope the weather is on my side at least for a while, bad weather to come today around lunchtime.
After two hours of driving I reached Wave Rock, in 34 degrees heat but a lot of dark clouds hanging around already.
    First
St I went to see the Wave Rock. Much smaller as expected, a little bit disappointing but still cool to see. I did the walk on the rock, what was pretty cool, really nice view from up here.
After that I did the loop track to Hippos Yawn. Nice and easy short walk and yes, I see the hippo, do you?

  • Wylie Beach

    11. mars, Australia ⋅ 🌬 25 °C

Last stop in this area, Wylie Beach. I did a short walk to both beaches but the wind was blowing so much sand around, that I didn't stay too long.
After this short stop I left Esperance and drove to Ravensthorpe where I will spend the night on a really nice and cool campground.
Met a girl in the camp kitchen that is driving all the way across Australia on a bicycle! People think I am brave, but what she is doing is incredible!

  • Last Round Cape Le Grand National Park

    11. mars, Australia ⋅ 🌬 22 °C

After the morning workout I went to Lucky Bay. Last round of the beaches here before it's time to leave Esperance and go on a new adventure.
Unfortunately it was blowing quite a lot and with only 23 degrees I thought it was quite cold. So I left Lucky Bay quite soon again to go to Thistle Cove. Here it was a little bit better with the wind but I wanted to go to Hellfire Bay.
Still my favorite beach here! Less people, less wind.. just the best!
Had a quick lunch break here before I drove back to Esperance.

  • Frenchman's Peak

    11. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

I woke up this morning around 7 am.
Today it's supposed to be nice weather, but not too hot, around 24 degrees. Perfect weather to climb up Frenchman's Peak 💪
I had a good breakfast, got ready and packed up and left around 9:30 am.
Got the last free spot at the carpark. Lucky me!
I grabbed my back and was ready to go at 10:15.
The first part was nice and easy but too short, soon it was time to climb up the bare rock. And it was really climbing. It was pretty steep and some parts were really steep. But the surface of the rock is really good, not slippery at all. I always had a good grip.
I needed quite a few short breaks to catch my breath but made it to the top actually pretty fast. Just a bit over 30 minutes.
The view from up here was amazing!
I met a German couple up there and we had a nice short chat.
Went back down to try to find the way into the natural window. When I found one, the couple from the top showed up and we went down into the natural window together. That was so cool to stand there.
We walk all the way back together. They have traveled to New Zealand too and we had a lot to talk about.
I was back at the car park at 11:40 am so it took me only 1 hour and 25 minutes. With breaks and talking..

  • Wharton Beach

    10. mars, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Today it was supposed to rain the whole day.. here and also in Esperance and everywhere around. So I have no plans. Went back to Wharton Bay after breakfast and stayed until the afternoon, because the weather was at first not good but ok and got better and better with every hour that passed.
I arrived in Esperance around 4:30 pm.
    Calm evening again.
Tomorrow it's time to climb up in Frenchman's Peak 💪

  • Little Wharton Bay + Lookout

    9. mars, Australia ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

I didn't dare to drive on the short grave road to Little Wharton Bay so I walked the 550m to the beach.
Nice and easy walk over a small hill. Nice beach too, different to the big one but with its own charm. Really cool. On the way back to the car I saw a train up a smaller rock. Of course I had to go up there! And from there it actually was an easy walk up to the top of the big rock, not as steep as from the other side! Nice!
So I walked up all the way, still not raining just blowing a lot.
After that I enjoyed some more time at the beach, before I went to the campground as the clouds got pretty dark.
I had fish and chips for a lunch/dinner at the Orleans Bay and then a calm afternoon. Went to bed around 8pm because I was so tired.

  • Wharton Bay

    9. mars, Australia ⋅ 🌬 22 °C

And I was lucky! The sun was out over Wharton Bay. This is, recording to many locals, the best beach in the area! Well what should I say, it is amazing! 🤩 Hello paradise!
Took a short walk up on the rock but thought the part to the top looks quite steep. And I didn't want to risk slipping on the rocks.
So I just admired the beautiful beach!
Until I wanted to check out Little Wharton Bay.

  • Orleans Bay

    9. mars, Australia ⋅ 🌬 22 °C

After a wet drive to Orleans Bay, it rained almost all the way since I left Esperance Stonehenge, I arrived at Orleans Bay.
Went to the lookout, first two pictures, and was unlucky and ended up in a short but heavy shower. I was not too far away from the car but was soaked when I reached the car... Funny.. Thought I might just go to the campground and see if it ever gets better and worth it to go to Wharton Bay. But on the way to the campground I noticed a spot with blue sky, just over Wharton Bay so I had to go there to see how it is. As it's just 2,5km away from the campground, I could get there quickly if the weather gets really bad.Les mer

  • Cape Le Grand Beach

    8. mars, Australia ⋅ 🌬 23 °C

Last but not least, Cape Le Grand Beach. Unfortunately it was extremely windy on the beach. Impossible to stay there for a while. But I decided to walk up MT Le Grand, at least a little bit to get a nice view over the bay.
That was such a good idea! The view was amazing 🤩 And the walk was quite protected from the wind!
I turned around after a while because the trail is going all the way to Hellfire Bay.
From here it was time to drive back to Esperance after a long day out in so many beautiful beaches.
First thing I did back at the campground: shower! The white sand is super sticky and hard to get off the skin.
After dinner, again with good company I went to bed early.

Before leaving mich I decided to do the 25 min walk to Little Hellfire Bay. It took me Mac 15 min. Super nice and easy walk with great views and a beautiful little beach at the end! I still can't believe this is all real..
I didn't stayed for long, was getting hungry so I went back to the car and had lunch.
