Apparently, this is one of the biggest hills on the Camino Frances.

Day 32 - I did 7km extra!!

So, sometimes there are 'alternate' routes (don't know why) Today was an extra 7km but less pilgrims, prettier and shadier...so worth the extra steps

Sarria is an important milestone on the Camino Frances. It marks the remaining 100km (approx) of the Camino...and it is a requirement to complete this last stage to receive a compostela when you reach Santiago.
The path will get busier from here as many people start in Sarria and just do this last stage.Leer más

Santiago cathedral

While definitely not as ornate as the previous cathedrals, Santiago cathedral certainly deserves its own post! I missed the mass at 12 noon after queuing for 30 mins. Will try again for the 7.30pm mass, queuing at 6.30pm...yes, there are that many people wishing to attend! I have a photo of part of the queue in the next footprint to be posted...Leer más

OMG, I am here!!!! So much emotion...pride, disbelief, weariness, excitement, sadness, elation...and satisfaction! I set out to walk across northern Spain and I have done it. 779km of (actual) blood, sweat n tears...along with new friendships and experiences. So, after 779km I have reached my destination! Everyone is now asking me "what are you going to do now?"
Well, I have a plane ticket to Canada and I leave from Porto, Portugal on 15th July. In the meantime, I shall have to find something to do for 9 days....

While not as ornate as previous cathedrals, Santiago cathedral definitely deserves its own post...it DOMINATES the city! Unfortunately, I missed the botafumeiro at 12 noon mass (queued since 11.30 and still missed out!) Will try again for 7.30pm mass, queuing at 6.30pm.Leer más
