    Dinner with Martin and Laura

    September 17, 2015 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Rae and I went down to Darby's first thing... Rae to get a full breakfast, complete with black pudding. I had my cereal as usual so just had coffee. Quite nice... We were to meet Sue in the early afternoon so she could take us to Martin's place. Rae thought it would be a good idea to meet at Bents Garden Centre (another one!), and that way we could eat something light and see what their roses looked like. Olga didn't want to spoil her appetite so she only had coffee. I had soup and Rae a sandwich.

Sue eventually arrived and we settled on a rose, although they really didn't look much chop either. We headed off to Martin's then in Atherton. It is a beautiful little Tudor style place, very countrified and probably quite old. Laura showed us around the garden, and her hens. Not low maintenance!

We sat around.. Martin came home from work before too long and started helping with the dinner preparations. They were putting a lot of effort into it and wanted to make sure we were suitably impressed. Glynn had to come from work in Leeds and arrived just after 7 by which time Olga was starving. We demolished the seafood and salad starter, and then were presented with individual beef or salmon wellingtons. Dessert was a rich rocky road slice with home made ice cream. A little mishap with red wine on the tablecloth didn't spoil a good night, which finished off with YouTube requests from the whole troupe.

However, on our way home, Olga said she had been really cold all night. She had also been heaving in the bathroom... my turn was to come around 3 am 😦. Probably a bit too much rich food mixed with wine!
