I took this photo in the customs area, and they told me photos are not allowed.
ПутешественникCustoms was very high tech, with a machine to read the passports; and a cool facial recognition computer. They put you in a glass box for your photo, with automatic sliding doors on each side.

Our Airbnb in Puebla.
This was our original booking, a 300 year-old mansion conveniently close to the Spanish language school that Karen, Brittany, and Justin are attending, but the owner convinced us to go try his other place closer to the historical center of town. What a mistake that was! [Richard]

There are 6 students at the school. They serve us homemade lunch every day that is delicious!

We visited a church on top of a hill, built on top of a pyramid. The church is called El Sanctuario de la Virgen de los Remedios.
ПутешественникThere is basically no pyramid to be seen at the "Cholula Pyramid." It's mostly underground.
ПутешественникThe hill IS the pyramid... Tlachihualtepetl (Nahuatl for "made-by-hand mountain", a.k.a. the Great Pyramid of Cholula), said to be the largest one (by volume) in the whole world.
ПутешественникThe woman with the blue backpack is a fellow student named Madison. She is from Colorado.

Nuestro nuevo alojamiento tiene muchas, muchas antigüedades. ¡Este es de 1626!
ПутешественникThis is the other property with same owner as our original booking. We have the whole place to ourselves. It is quite large with 8 accommodations, and even has a bar/restaurant (that are both closed for several years now due to COVID). First room we picked to stay in has one of the smallest bathrooms we've ever been in (you even have to stoop to get through the door). The room Brittany and Justin first picked had a dead air-conditioner, so they had to move to another room. Turned out that room had a non-functioning toilet, so they moved to a third room!
ПутешественникThis place has a large courtyard (as did the first place), but sometime in the past they added a huge weather-tight plexiglass canopy to cover it and so now it's like Biosphere II -- a giant hot-house where the plants (and us humans) struggle to survive... most likely the reason they had to add air-conditioners in all the accommodations!

Our Airbnb has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, none of them totally functional. So...we are using different rooms for showers, bathrooms, beds, etc. Just like Goldilocks 🤣🤪
ПутешественникActually eight, but one is currently occupied by Carlos (host/caretaker) and another is being remodeled. The whole place is filled with antiquities.

ПутешественникEnd of next week "Euphe" (Euphemia), the charming woman who has been cooking our breakfasts every morning will be opening up the big kitchen in order to teach Karen, Brittany, and Madison (one of the Spanish language students we've invited) how to make some mole dishes, and she has graciously invited Justin and I to eat the results (pray for us!).

Had a nice relaxing day at the Casareyna Boutique Hotel and Spa. I had an aromatherapy session, deep tissue massage, and nice swim in the heated pool.

Today I went to a pulque bar and tried pulque. It is a fermented, effervescent beverage made from agave sap. Very delicious!
