Day 35: Benedictine Monastery of Monte I

Have been accepted to stay here for a few days. Benedictine Monastery of Monte Iago at Rabanal. It's connected to a German Benedictine order Have bunk in the guest quarters. Had first meal in the actual monastery. In silence but with classical guitar music playing. Red wine serve with the meal. Food served by the monks and cleared away by the monks. The dining room is quite new- black tables and slate floor overlooking a garden with herbs and grasses. Next meal is dinner at 8:30 which is after Vespers. Currently two monks; one German and one Korean. The other monk who is head cook is still in Madrid after missing his bus. A warm sunny day here.Read more
