Doubtful Sound

So was Doubtful Sound worth the 2 days wait? Yes it was. The weather was dry, and cold, which added to this special place. I wish my camera could do it justice. We remained outside on the top of the boat for the 3 hour trip. Somehow, we didn't notice the cold. The brown splodges on the rocks are seals at the seaward end of the sound. We got back to Manapouri and planned to head for the West Coast as we knew we had a 2 day window of good weather We spent the night free camping at Lowburn near Cromwell. The light show that evening was a small rainbow and a canopy of stars. An amazing day.Read more
