Lake Taupo

A long day of driving to Lake Taupo with great views all the way. We rerouted to Highway 4 because Highway 1 is closed for a few months. The region around the waterfall was a geological mystery to me. Lots of soft rock and river action I would postulate. Tongariro volcano is very impressive. Our campsite at Motutere was delightful. We looked directly on to Lake Taupo. (thanks for the tip Col) The best rainbow I've ever seen rounded off the evening.Read more
