    Early start with a 3:45 pick up. No queues at check in and fairly quick through security. Joined the other 20 odd people scheduled for our flight to Pisa. Well it wasn't bad news for us, as we got a free upgrade to extra leg room as long as we moved to the emergency exit. 😁😁👍👍👍
    15 minutes after arriving at Pisa and seeing our bags already on the carousel belt we met up with Greg and Patti arriving from Florida via London. Hire car sorted and we are off to the villa on the other side of Lucca. Crazy drive through though as there is a comic and gamer festival going on so numerous roads closed and cars parked all over. Glad to be through only to receive a text from Joanne and Marylin "no taxis available could we pick them up from the train station". So back into Lucca we headed.....
    Finally back on the road to the villa only to arrive at the wrong address but what a beautiful view. Arriving at the correct address, just had time to unload the car before Greg and Keith set off back (through Lucca) to Pisa airport to pick up Greg's sister Jill and her husband Tim. Supplies bought and Steve,Dorothy, Dan and Lisa located we all arrived at the villa to settle down to pizza and wine by candlelight......as the power cut out !! 🤣 🍽🍕🍷x 12 people 🇬🇧🇮🇹🇺🇸    Leia mais

    Day Trip to Pisa

    It wouldn't be a holiday in Tuscany if we didn't make our daily trip to Pisa!!!.
    This time however we were stopping awhile 1st lunch and then the tower. Very nice lunch at Osteria Dei Mille (recommended by Joanne) only we overstayed and missed our time slot to go up the tower. So we ended up just walking around the Piazza (in the rain) and going inside the Cathedral to get out of the rain.Leia mais

    Pasta and Wine

    Pasta and wine night back at the villa, after another stop at the supermarket (where we caused havoc the day before) for more wine, pasta and cheese, only to be served by the same check out lady!!!!!
    Chef Gregory and ably assisted by sous chef Joanne prepared and cooked the pasta carbonara which wouldn't have been the same without the cheese masterfully prepared by Keith.    Leia mais

    The Holy Face of Lucca.
    What is the Holy Face? This large wooden crucifix, 2 and a half metres tall, is kept in the Church of San Frediano, and depicts a singular Christ, known as "Black Christ of the Lucchesi". It's an unusual representation of Jesus: he has long, loose hair, a moustache and beard, a long nose and rather long feet.Leia mais

    Uffizi Museum

    2nd stop the Uffizi Museum requested by the ladies in the party as there is some naked guy there called David who apparently slayed Goliath with a sling shot.
