Art and Nature in Tuscany 2023

“The best journey takes you home.”

It’s been a great 10 days in
Italy 🇮🇹 and my painting course with Thomas Schaller is something I’ll never forget! That said, we’re both looking forward to getting back home to Estepona.

We stayed at an airport hotel to make our 7am flight today less stressful (and because the average room rate in Florence was 500 euros for one night!) Dinner at the Novatel restaurant was delicious (honestly, we haven’t had a bad meal this entire trip!) Over dinner we shared our highs and lows; agreeing that our tour of the countryside surrounding Siena was the best. I am determined to paint some of those scenes.

Spain’s high-speed train AVE is fast, clean, and comfortable, and the 2 1/2 hour trip gave us uninterrupted time to read the FT. I don’t know why we haven’t used this to pop up to Madrid more frequently. It’s definitely on our radar now.

We arrived back in Malaga to more rain but we’re not complaining because we need it so badly here. Speaking of coming home, we used our GPS to help us navigate from the Malaga train station, out of the city. Instead of reading MA 20 she said Massachusetts 20! That gave us a giggle 😂Read more
