We are on the lookout for our first view of the Sierras. We debated if the high point far in the distance may be Mt Whitney. Only 150 miles and we'll be there
ПутешественникIf that's Mt Whitney, it looks huge, looming on the horizon. Not much vegetation still - the landscape looks barren.
ПутешественникShe's the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states. Definitely a big one. Hope that's her and that there isn't another, larger one hiding somewhere 😬

Our first day in the Sierra and we've already had our permits checked by Ranger Stone
ПутешественникWow, a real live ranger! They’re scarce this year. Looks like a very friendly ranger too. One only finds grumpy rangers at desk-jobs, trail-work brings out the best in people.

All the tricks in the book were required to get 7 full days of food stored in the bear can. Hopefully, I'll become more skilled at bear can tetris 🙃
