Lombard Street

Continuing on in the direction of our hotel, we aimed for Lombard Street, for some pictures and the like. However, the thing about Lombard Street is that to go down it, one must first go up the other side. In hair-raising traffic and incline gradient, Ben valiantly drove up to the crest, before descending far more peacefully! The photos are well known and don't do the gradient justice, but the real experience is driving it...oh my word!

Across the bay bridge, we checked into our motel in Oakland. Well placed for the BART, it was pretty basic accommodation. That said, compared to SF prices, it was a bargain, and we don't plan on spending much time in the rooms. A great find for dinner of a cafe in Chinatown left us all rather more rotund than we began the evening.Leggi altro
