  • Bejing Airport

    November 4, 2024 in China ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

First a 9 hour flight to china, then japan. I got maybe 30 min of proper sleep. Gonna be rough, since it’s midday when we land :(

Currently 24 hours with 30 min of sleep and am dying. Air China has provided me with my last thee meals, impressed that i get food even on a two hour flight. The safety video is animated, quite cute. Also free drinks, even bear and wine.

Bejing airport is huge, but quite empty. Some stores seem permanently closed. Wierd elevators seem to lead nowhere and the huge wooden roof makes it feel like you’re in a stadium.

My eyes barely stay open help.

Casle grunds but without the casle, only the ruins remain. Still a pretty park with some traditional guard towers.

  • Hiroshima

    November 9, 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

William and I went off to a two day trip to Hiroshima and Onomichi. First day we visited Hiroshima Casle and it’s park and nearby temple, then we visited the atomic bomb piece museum and piece flame. We also had the hiroshima version of okonomiyaki (absolutly delicioud with some mayo).

We ended the night with a concert by The Pillows. Super energy!

After sleeping in Onomichi, we took a bike trip through the very scenic shimanami kaido, (moutain-river sea-way). It’s a 76 km bikepath through 7ish islands and huge bridges between them.

  • Nara - City of Deer

    November 11, 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

We visited Nara, the city of deer! The over thousand deer walk freely in the park and are frendly, and will bow their head to ask for food. We also visited the great budda hall and a rural shrine.

  • Uji - City of tea

    November 14, 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Today we visited Uji, the tea district in kyoto. Famous for matcha and the tempel that’s on every 10 and 10000 yen coin/bill.

  • Minoh Park

    November 15, 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Today we checked out minoh park, or minoo park, for it’s waterfall and nice trails. Not only was the waterfall nice, but we also found some abandonded trails deep in the woods!

We ended with some nice ramen and fried rise, with questional tax calculations.Read more

  • Okazaki Station

    November 17, 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

On our trip to Korankei a few days back we got stuck in Okazaki for an hour due to cancelled busses. But the little part we saw was quite pretty!

  • Korankei Maple Festival

    November 17, 2024 in Japan ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Today we to reached Korankei, literally translated as insence-storm-vally, to visit their maple festival. But due to it’s popularity all busses seemed to be cancelled, and the only way to know was to ask once you reached the station.

After a 2 hour trip became 6, we finally arrived to over 4000 lights, streetfood and night-time temples.

  • Kanazawa

    November 19, 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

We took a buss north (3.5 hours) and now it’s cold! Around 5 degrees in the mornings, and 10 degrees less than in kyoto. But we found yet another casle and a beatiful garden!

  • Onsen + Sushi

    November 20, 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

Today we visited a traditional Japanese bathhouse at the edge of Nanto, with a natural hot-spring and both inside and outside pools. Nude and gender separated with sitting showers! After we missed a bus we had to take a cab, but it saved us 3 hours so it was worth it.

Then we decided to eat some fancy sushi, since Kanazawa is known for its fish. I ordered something different from the others and got “the sushi”, big bowl of rice with an assortment of fish on top. Biggest sushi I’ve ever had!
