  • Kaikoura

    27. november 2018, New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

We rented a house in Kaikoura for two nights. The views were amazing and the sea was very blue. The sand was volcanic sand so it was black. We went for a walk which was very windy but nice. We saw seals and seagulls with their chicks.Læs mere

  • Christchurch

    28. november 2018, New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

In Christchurch we celebrated Jonah's birthday. We walked around after eating in a really fantastic cafe. Because there was an earthquake in 2011 many buildings were crumpled. We saw the cathedral, which fell down in the earthquake. It was quite scary. After that, we saw the temporary cardboard cathedral, then we got back in the car and drove to Akaroa.Læs mere

  • Akaroa

    28. november 2018, New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 14 °C

After Jonah's birthday lunch in Christchurch we went to Akaroa. This is a pretty little village with a French feeling to it. French settlers first came here in 1840.

  • Akaroa rhino

    29. november 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

In Akaroa we went for a walk up a hill and saw sculptures made of metal. We saw some metal giraffes were poking around in the grass in the middle of the walk, and when we got to the top there was a rhino made of old metal. It was really cool.Læs mere

  • "Schnecke" and Waihi Gorge

    1. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Schnecke is snail in German. We called the van we rented this because it is quite slow. On our first night we went to a place called Waihi Gorge . It had lots of space and we had most of the campsite to ourselves. There was also a river flowing through the campsite.Læs mere

  • Overnight camping with views of Mt Cook

    2. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

After looking at Lake Tekapo we went to a campsite next to a lake with lots of mountains surrounding it, one of which is called Mount Cook. We only stayed there for one night. It was really nice.

  • Queenstown

    3. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

We travelled in our van to Queenstown. We stayed in a campsite where there were loads of people. It was quite strict because there was a lock on the toilet door, to which you had to enter a password. There are mountains in Queenstown called the Remarkables. It is quite remarkable!Læs mere

  • Parasailing and tree-climbing

    4. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

In Queenstown we had lots of choices of activities. We chose to do parasailing and it was so cool. We went onto a boat where we got our harnesses on. Then they attached us to the parachute and the boat went really quick. We were lifted up into the air. We saw loads of views and the parachute kept bobbing up and down. Then we landed and got to the playground. There was a big tree which had fallen over and we decided to climb it. It was so much fun.Læs mere

  • Tiki trail walk

    4. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

At Queenstown our campsite was right next to a mountain. We climbed it - but there was a deal we had with our parents. The deal was that if we got to the top and back down again, without whingeing, we would get 25 NZ dollars, the cost of a return ticket on the gondola! We got to the top, which made my heart beat at 100 miles per hour. Going down made my knees wobble, but it was so much fun.Læs mere

  • Campsite for the night

    5. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

After staying in Queenstown, we continued our journey and travelled to a campsite near Dunedin. It was right next to a beach. In the evening, Jonah and Dad went down to the beach and came back telling us that they had made something on the beach. It was an alien with seaweed as hair! The next morning we went to the beach again and made a den. It was so cool!Læs mere

  • Wild beaches

    6. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

On Thursday we stayed at a campsite for the night. You wouldn't call it a proper campsite. I think you would call it more of a hippie campsite. It was right next to a beach with choppy waters and flying sand. On the second day, after spending a night there, we went back to the beach and made a den out of sticks . It was also a really nice day, which made us very happy!Læs mere

  • Dunedin, New Zealand

    6. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

We left the hippie campsite and headed for Dunedin where we started to have a look around. It had a lot of tall buildings. We went to a veggie cafe to eat and then went to look at the famous railway station. It was quite remarkable for a station. Then, after that, we went to see the Cadbury chocolate factory (from the outside!). It was really cool. After a long day we went to another campsite next to a lovely beach.Læs mere

  • Waikouaiti, New Zealand

    6. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

After spending most of the day in Dunedin, we settled down for two nights in Waikouaiti. It was very close to a surfing beach where the waves were quite scary because they were so high. On the first evening there we just went down to look at the beach. It was quite beautiful. The second day we dared to go body boarding in the sea. It was very cold!Læs mere

  • Rakaia Huts

    9. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

We went to Rakaia huts on the last day of having our campervan. We met a girl from the Netherlands called Eva there, a nearly four-year old, who followed me and Jonah everywhere, but wasn't so keen on Lewis. The beach was very stony and difficult to walk on, but the water was an amazing turquoise colour. It seemed almost fake.Læs mere

  • Birkenhead... Auckland

    10. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

This is Birkenhead in Auckland, where we stayed after our campervan experience. It was beautiful. The house had amazing views onto the harbour and Auckland city.

  • Auckland City

    11. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

On the second to last day in New Zealand we took the ferry from Birkenhead, where we were staying, to the centre of Auckland. We went to the sky tower. There were three different platforms, all of them staggeringly high. I frightened my parents by standing on the glass floors - they are both very scared of heights and didn't cope well with this.Læs mere

  • Devonport

    12. december 2018, New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Our last day in Auckland and New Zealand! Before flying to Singapore we went to Devonport, a nice village with a lovely harbour, playground and centre. When we were at the playground we saw a cute toddler who followed us and was sad when we left. After ice cream we headed to the airport.Læs mere
