Tour start - Kelpies and the Highlands

    June 2, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

Pick up our tour at the Edinburgh bus station. Sixteen passenger bus, but only 14 on this tour. Gail and I got the back seat which had its pros and cons. Was wider than the other seats and we had an empty seat between us. But visibility was maybe not as good as seats further front ward.

First stop was the Kelpies. Very large metal artworks of horse heads. Symbolized both the history of horses in the area and a history of metal working. Of course there is also the legend of the Kelpies. Not sure I have it all, but it has something to do with white horses that if you petted them, they would drag you under water and eat your whole body except your heart.

Afterwards, we stopped at a quaint little town for lunch. A place of "waterfalls", but really some rapids. Then we stopped at some old castle ruins and then headed up into the Highlands.
