    Relaxing in Marseille

    It’s warm, we are at a new ocean, we got crepes, AND McDonald’s what more could girls ask for. We took it easy because mike was sick and it’s a new city.     Finally weather that warrants being at the beach all day, even with the clouds it was warm and relaxing. I started writing in my journal that I got in Brighton as well, lots of thoughts to get out, especially without my phone as a distraction.     We are Sea Peas!

    Finally we get to do some really amazing swimming amongst some gorgeous cliffs. This spot was a recommendation from a local and it truly was great! The hike to get there was fairly long and definitely steep but worth it and we are continuing to work on our booty muscles! We had a little picnic (carrot cheers!) and then for dinner got the greatest truffle sauce pasta ever, I was excited!Baca selengkapnya

    Already moving onward

    Goodbye Marseille and hello Saint Raphael! Another gorgeous area on the south coast of France was calling to us, particularly because of the terrace at this next Airbnb. I mean the view was breathtaking from the get go! Even though it involved at least a half mile walk up the steepest hill we decided right away this was the place for us and requested to extend our time here. Also mussels with Roquefort cheese sauce (famous French cheese) are fabulous! (And hot dog means something a bit different outside America)Baca selengkapnya

    Gin & tonic on the terrace

    We headed into the actual town of Saint Raphael which unfortunately takes walking down our steep hill and then walking a mile to get the the train station and then only a quick 7 minute ride, haha when the Airbnb said you should have a car they might have been right. But it’s a nice walk along the beach and after getting groceries and macaroons we got to have the best relaxing dinner and drinks while watching the sunset from our little home for the week!     Private pool swimmers!

    The pool opened today at the Airbnb and we were a bit excited! We feel very fancy getting basically our own pool with such a good view and in such a nice little retirement type community. We fit right in! More sunsets and g&ts to finish the evening the right way.Baca selengkapnya

    Cannes can wonderland!

    Day trip to Cannes at the perfect time 2 days after the Cannes Film Festival! Sometimes you don’t plan things out so perfectly. But it is such a cute town with great food! snails anyone?! Well we enjoyed them and did our best to experience the whole town in one day! First train out and last train back is how we like it.     Boating and floating

    After planning for our next place, we are making a pattern of doing all booking with only a day or 2 to spare, we went on a lovely lady’s speed boat. She took out to some good snorkeling and swimming spots. It was so beautiful and felt so nice and free to be out in the ocean going fast on a little boat! I love riding on boats the feel of the water and wind in your face! On the way back that was extremely the case seeing as it was so choppy so every wave splashed fully over my body!Baca selengkapnya

    I guess we are runners

    Took the morning and afternoon to be totally relaxed at the pool. We have used the pool to play, exercise (water aerobics and laps like true old ladies), and stretching! Ended up being too relaxed which isn’t much to complain about but we ended up having to run a mile to get the train on time, leaving on time was never my strong suit at home and that hasn’t changed apparently. But it was an amazing night on the town in Saint Raphael, finished as usual with a sunset and drink on the terrace.Baca selengkapnya

    Switzerland here we come!

    Had to leave our beautiful Airbnb behind which of course involved a 7:30am speed walk down and up the huge hill to take out all the trash that could have been taken out at anytime before but of course we were always running too late to the train station to worry about trash on the way. Then we got the long journey started. I think we went on 8 trains however clearly I cannot count. We passed the time reading our book club book, the therapist.Baca selengkapnya

    So much beauty

    Holy wow, Switzerland is already making a great impression. We are staying in Lucerne by recommendation of Anna’s friend and we found a couch surfer to stay with! Our first official stay with someone. Sergio was so so kind and gave us his room. This made the day easier for us since we then had the whole budget to spend on food basically! Our kind of day. We walked round for awhile like zombies feeling a bit lethargic despite the beautiful place but by the end of the night when we were dancing to Irish music from the Scottish guy we were all energy and smiles!Baca selengkapnya

    It’s all so perfect

    We slept in till noon which means we left at the exact time it started POURING rain, great planners as usual. But I think we rock the raincoat look so it’s working out. We decided to take the train through the mountains and create our own scenic tour, and hopefully find somewhere without so much rain. The universe was on our side because we ended up on the most breathtaking lake ferry FOR FREE! Our train pass included this boat, and even though I wasn’t prepared with any proof of my ticket they let me on. It was so lovely and in Interlaken we had a seriously wonderful meal. Again thank you Sergio because we are definitely spending $$ on this Swiss food.Baca selengkapnya

    Resting up

    We took a good amount of time getting up this morning. Very excited about our 2 balconies, 2 bathrooms, and living room separate from the bedroom situation going on in this Airbnb. We are realizing we much prefer this lifestyle to hostels which cost the same amount and have you sharing a bathroom with potentially 40 people (looking at you London). Also none of us snore, it’s great! We then did a little walk around town. We found a ropes course type playground which definitely got the better of me and I slipped right off.     It’s rain rain raining again but that won’t stop us from spending the whole day outside! It was a great breath of fresh air to be in a forest and see a beautiful waterfall, Germany’s tallest, right in the Black Forest. We did exercises, made a snail friend and many slug friends, walked nearly every path in the park, and got a great booty workout as usual.     From heaven to hell

    Today we are being bougie and going to the spa! But first another waterfall walk in the rain. We went to Zurich, Switzerland to see Europe’s biggest waterfall. It was really gorgeous because of the typical mountain water color of the water in Switzerland. So fabulous. Even eating dry pb&js in the one spot somehow protected from the rain was nice with such a good view. (A sparrow even took sandwich crust right off the table by my hand). Then to the spa we went! It was so fancy and had many stations with different purposes. The best was for sure the hot rock slab to lay on, I was the most fully relaxed in my whole life, my body was asleep and my brain was just thinking all happy thoughts and vibes! The bubble loungers in the hot water was also fun. However we were lulled into a false sense of peace because after finding dinner we were already to late to make our train! This time we couldn’t run to make it work. And dinner of cheese fondue (with wine, ew) and alpine macaroni really wasn’t going to be worth having to sleep in the train station all night! We decided to find a couch surfer as close to villingen, Germany as possible to then take the earliest train home in the morning!Baca selengkapnya

    Rescued and a long night

    Thanks to the wonderful couch surfer Anna found who happened to be our age and a female we had a place to hang till 4:30am. I think the universe decided to get back on our side because the night could have gone a lot worse. I had a horrible headache which made sleeping impossible but we stayed up most of the time to chat with our new friend and cuddle her cats. Then I finished the book club book! I have to talk about it with the others, omg what an ending. Can’t say the 3 of us are very good detectives though, didn’t see that coming. After running full speed in the morning to get the train (of course) we made it back to our Airbnb to go to bed at about 6:30am. Managed to sleep till 4pm and then go out to dinner with Anna’s friends at the Irish pub! So fun to meet them and have some burgers and ciders.Baca selengkapnya

    Dessert Day

    Got up today with the mission of eating Black Forest cake. We of course got some, not as sweet as I prefer my cake but still good. And then we sat in the grass and took some fabulous photos as we like to do. We then went to dinner with more of Anna’s friends from her time living here in high school. They suggested 3 German dishes to try, schnitzel, a sour cream flatbread, and German pasta. We then went to the restaurant one of her friends works at and got the most fancy desserts for free! And a free lemonade wine. Ended the night at the pub where some very excited guys bought us a drink because we were American. And we got a taste of small town German nights out!Baca selengkapnya

    Now we are staying in Freiburg. We took the train, sat in the grass for a couple hours (are you sensing a trend?), then got to check into our Airbnb and went for dinner and an evening walk. We found the cutest little swing over the creek that runs through town which was very picturesque and fun. A thunderstorm rolled through and was very intense for about 10 minutes, I guess it got me excited and I had to do a little rain dance!Baca selengkapnya

    Booty workout number 3000

    Fresh croissants for breakfast and then a bunch of walking made for the beginning of a typical day in the life of the 3 Europa amigas. We wanted to see this tower that Freiburg is famous for but what we didn’t know was that the tower was on the top of a steep hill. Get those legs working ladies. We climbed the hill, stopping for a photo shoot and a slide (I think there was surprise poop smeared in that slide, might be worse than surprise hot dogs), but the show must go on. Then we walked over 200 stairs to get to the bottom of the probably 100+ stairs tower itself. A great view on a clear day though!Baca selengkapnya

    Drinks picnic

    Me and mike spent the afternoon together and got tacos. Was superb! Then we all met back up and went to the lake to have dinner and drinks in the park. My new campaign is to make park drinking allowed in the US as it is amazing. Such a fun environment filled with people our age hanging out together not at a bar which is potentially a much better way to meet people but still have a good drink at the same time. Drinks from the grocery store is the way to go also, so cheap! The sunset was gorgeous and I would have stayed later but I had to pee so bad I almost didn’t make it home on the tram. I thought about jumping in the water with my dress on, but it looked a bit chilly!Baca selengkapnya

    Spritzer girls

    After getting lunch at a little market selling brats we went back to the room and then me and Anna went up the hill near our place to see this weird little castle thing. Later on we met up for dinner and drinks with Nadine. We also stopped at the river and hopped in to cool off as we had our swimsuits on. It was brisk and we only lasted a little while but we got to say we had a little dip in the Freiburg stream, not just swing over it! We had Hugo’s (elderflower spritzers) lillet spritzers (lillet wine), and aperol spritzers. I had the best salty peanut flavored gelato too.     I did not leave the room today. I think that’s the first on the whole trip and we are about half way in. I was feeling a bit sad and tired so I just hung out by myself while Anna and mike went out for a walk.     Social dancing in the town square

    When we got up this morning we weren’t expecting to be at breakfast for over 3 hours but that’s how it went. Our early morning (at least by our standards) turned into getting going past 1pm anyway. The poor waitress was all by herself and it was a packed place, also Anna’s food didn’t come the first time and she had to reorder. We got some souvenirs and played around in the book store. We also witnessed a very unique flash mob type skit that I think was saying Jesus will save you but it was hard to tell, especially as I was focused on the girl who fainted mid performance and no one even seemed to blink an eye? So strange, but it is a hot day, I don’t blame her. Then we went to the town square where Nadine told us every night they do a social dance class and then everyone just dances together after that. It was so fun, and me and Anna got asked to dance with a couple different people. Even though we didn’t do the class and didn’t know how it was so fun!Baca selengkapnya
