• Day 314 - Quito

10 de março de 1975, Equador

The climate in Quito is refreshingly cool and dry, with brief daily evening showers. Nights can get chilly, dropping into the 40s°F, but overall, it’s pretty comfortable. Behind the school where we’re stationed, there are toilets and hot showers, which are really all we need—sufficient but straightforward with around-the-clock security.

At 10 AM, we headed to the Venezuelan Consulate to inquire about shipping our vehicle overseas. The information available was minimal, but at least we got the basics. The Consul certainly made himself feel important, though, I must admit, he was far more civilized than the one we dealt with in Maicao, Colombia, last year. We were told to return on Monday with our passports, and our Visa would be ready the following day. Bureaucracy at its finest!
