We all went back after lunch to walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole and watch the sunset. So incredible 💖Read more

  • Kings Canyon

A 6hr return day trip to Kings Canyon!

We did the Kings Creek Walk (2.6km) and then the Canyon Rim Walk (6km) with the kids... in true Bella style she refused to wear shoes all day so walked the whole lot in bare feet!

The top of the Canyon was pretty stunning! 😍

  • Alice Springs

    June 6, 2023 in Australia

A fabulous 2 weeks in Alice whilst Chris was back at work. We stayed at the show grounds and were blessed with a visit from the army right next to us for half our trip due to Finke!

We spent our time visiting all sorts of places around Alice...

    Old Gaol & Women's Museum
    Reptile Centre
    Old Telegraph Station
    McDonnell Ranges
    Local Swimming Pool
    Royal Flying Doctor Centre
Finke Desert Race for the final day

Not to mention numerous visits to the Skate Park and joining in with an afternoon workshop one night!

I even managed to squeeze in getting our spare tyre fixed... AND had my first media request from the ABC which sadly didn't work out, but still fun.... what a fortnight!!!

  • Womens Museum/Old Gaol & Reptile Centre

    June 8, 2023 in Australia

Day in Alice visiting the Old Gaol where they now house the a Women's Museum with acknowledgement of the efforts of the first women to colonise the Australian Outback.... and many of the first women to achieve in Australian history.

The Old Gaol was interesting to walk around but not quite as impressive as the Adelaide Gaol.

The kids loved the Reptile Centre.... getting to hold the snake and blue tongue lizard and get up close to the croc... Mum was not so impressed!!!!

  • Ormiston Gorge & Ellery Big Hole

    June 14, 2023 ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Another day trip to the West McDonnell Ranges to visit the gorges and waterholes.

Ormiston was the most beautiful and we arrived here first.... we decided to check out Glen Helen Gorge too but it really wasn't worth the visit (we didn't think!) so we went back to Ormiston for the afternoon!

The most incredible scenery, so serene and so welcoming. Lottie and Bella got their swimmers on and tried to brave the water but didn't quite make it in for a swim!

Then on the way home we stopped in at Ellery Big Hole for a quick look!

    Just such incredible landscapes 🥰

  • Royal Flying Doctors Centre

    June 16, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

    Yeay! Dad's home!!!

We all went to visit the Royal Flying Doctor Centre to learn more about the service (having used it once for Tom and his broken leg in 2020 to fly to Rocky in the middle of the night!).

Was so interesting to learn about the history of the service and sheer magnitude of the distances they cover.... knowing a patient is being transported somewhere in the country once every 2 minutes!

A great little film to watch about the history, you could climb on board a plane, and they even had a simulator to experience being the pilot or a patient so you could look around the plane! Amazing!

  • Devils Marbles

    June 18, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Off North we go towards Darwin and the first stop was supposed to be a Farm Stay a couple of hours North of Alice.... unfortunately the 20kms of dirt road that was highly corregated was a bit much for us, so we turned around and headed to Devils Marbles!

Disappointed Wycliffe Well UFO Centre was a derelict site, still with plenty of model aliens getting around 👽 Maybe they all got abducted?! 😉

Anyway..... we carried on to the Devils Marbles Hotel and got a great free place to camp right on the helipad!!! 🚁

Devils Marbles themselves were fascinating and we enjoyed a walk around at sunset.... I even made it back for a sunrise meditation too!!!

You can just imagine big giants playing with the big rock Marbles!

Oh yes... and zero phone reception! We're really getting remote now 😆

We've caught up with a couple of other families we've met on the road and enjoyed a dinner together on Tuesday night and the kids just had a ball every day playing on the hay bales... simple but effective playground!!!

  • Howard Springs Big 4

    July 3, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

3 weeks all set up at the Howard Springs Big 4 whilst Chris goes back to work!

Blessed with some great pools and a splash park and a great site tucked away from the hustle...

Of course we have the 'lego trailer' and have befriended every kid in the park. The kids have absolutely loved riding around the site together and meeting new friends!

Lottie and Bella are now matching mermaids and they've enjoyed practising with their snorkels. Plus we have Howard Springs nature park up the road and the Palmerston water park and shopping centre 10mins away, and the city only 30mins so all in all its a great spot 💝

(Luckily we missed out on the gastro bug but just a few days of colds and recovery from a hectic few months 😷 🤢 🤮 !!!!)
