Quiet day a sea.
Attended a presentation on Jakarta and Singapore. Pre-Dinner cabaret. Relaxing day before 2 long days of tours.

Joined 2 other couples for a private tour.
A contrasting city of modern buildings and poverty. Also, a sinking city. Some areas are sinking at a rate of 11 inches a year. Amazed that are new high rises being built. The plans are to move the capital city of Jakarta to Nusantara, a new city on east coast of Borneo.
Our tour included a boat ride. That didn't happen. The challenge was getting on the boat. One of the gals was not comfortable with the plank we had to walk. I wasn't disappointed.
Walked thru the Chinese market and Petak Sembilan Temple. Had some interesting looking items in the market. A tuktuk ride to a late lunch break at Cafe Batavia. Then viewed a landmark showing how much the city has sunk since 1978.
Visited the Katedral Church. Last stop the National Monument. The top of the Monument is covered in 50 Kilograms of Gold.Read more

Day 2 started with a little apprehension. Our driver for the day arrived at the port at 5:00 am. Thank goodness he did as the computer systems for entrance to the port was down. Trucks backed up for miles. Wondering if we have any difficulty getting back to the ship. No problem by the time we returned.
Gary and I aren't really artistic but enjoyed visit to the Batik House. We did the technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to a cloth. Lots of laughs. Enjoyed the Batik Museum.

On to the Istiqlal Mosque that can hold up to 200,000 people.

Last stop the Miniature Park, which exhibits Indonesia culture and daily life. We rode the cable car, giving us a great overview of the park. Tour at the park ended with a down pouring rain and wind.Read more

Immigration was so slow. We didn't leave the port until 11:30. Good news we were able to check in hotel by noon.
Our hotel was in Chinatown, only a block from the market and the Sri Mariamman Temple.

Airport first auto Scan is passport, take your picture and scan thumb print, you are in. 3 hrs in lounge!!

At boarding gate, luggage, electronics, liquids and body scan.
Full flight. Luckily in Business.
