• Ledges Trail in Cuyahoga Valley NP

    13 juni 2024, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

Today, we decided our butts deserved a break, so we tackled the park both by car and on foot! 🚗👣 First stop: Ledges Trailhead! You’d think with a name like that, there’d be waterfalls galore, but nope, not a drop in sight. Just rock on rock action.

These epic rock ledges create a plateau at a high point in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park uplands, and the trailhead is right at the top. And let me tell you, everything we read and heard about this being the #1 trail? Totally true! Beth was like a kid in a candy store, leaping, hopping, and skipping across every rock, boulder, and pebble like some kind of nature ninja. 😂🤣😂

On a serious note, these spectacular ledges offer breathtaking views of the highly textured Sharon Conglomerate, formed from sand and quartz pebbles brought here by ancient streams. Yes, we read the brochure.

Even though Ice Box Cave was locked up tighter than a drum (hence the bars), we had a blast climbing stairs, weaving through crevices, and snapping selfies at every possible angle! 📸 Because if you didn’t take a hundred photos, did you even hike?
