  • One Last Smash in Nashville!

    10 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 79 °F

It’s our last night in the Nashville area… and what do we do? 🎉 Something wild? Something unforgettable? Nope… we play pickleball. Obviously. 😂🏓💥

We had an absolute blast with Jake, Andrea & Cody — and special shoutout to Kevin (Dylan’s dad) who played for the very first time and crushed it! 🏆👏 Welcome to the pickle cult, Kevin. There’s no turning back now! 😜

We definitely missed you, Dylan — your absence was noted… 😏 What’s the matter? Afraid of getting shown up by your dad? 🏓💥😉

And in true us-fashion: post-pickleball = ravenous. 🐍 So naturally, we hit up Rice Box for some good ol’ Chinese comfort food. 🍚🥢 Sadly, Kevin couldn’t join us… but we ate enough for him too. You’re welcome, Kevin. 😂

  • Same Bike, New Beast Mode

    10 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F

BREAKING NEWS: Yes, Don’s bike went into the shop for a little TLC… but spoiler alert: it didn’t make it. 😵⚰️ Moment of silence.

But wait — plot twist! It’s a new bike for Don! 🎉🚲 Same model, fresh off the showroom floor, new car smell included. Think “Extreme Makeover: Two-Wheeled Edition.”

Now, Don’s way less likely to get stranded on the trail muttering, “Well, that’s unfortunate,” while pushing a 50-pound paperweight uphill. 😬

Beth, however, has mixed feelings. She loved it when the electric assist kicked the bucket and Don had to gasp pedal like a mortal. She could finally keep up without channeling her inner Tour de France champion. 🚴‍♀️💪

But now? Now he’s back to being bionic. And Beth’s like, “Cool cool cool… I love chasing a human rocket down gravel trails.” 😅

Stay tuned for future episodes of “Catch Me If You Can: Don vs. Beth” — coming soon to a trail near you. 🎬🌲✨

  • Lettuce Reunite! 😂

    10 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

Beth had lunch with Deanna & Carmen … she has missed these two fabulous troublemakers! They laughed, they lunched, and caught up on all the important things:

✔️ Pickleball glory (and the occasional graceful stumble).
✔️ Neighborhood shenanigans — bunco is still alive and dice are still a-rollin’! 🎲
✔️ New hobbies like mah-jong and euchre, because clearly Deanna is not about to sit still (Carmen doesn’t play — she still works part-time and gets to dodge the madness). ♠️🀄♣️

These ladies haven’t lost their sparkle — it was nonstop chatter, lots of laughs, and just enough mischief to qualify as cardio. 😆

Beth will catch you ladies when she comes back through town in the fall… so hydrate, stretch, and try to act like you’ve behaved. 😂🤣😂

  • A Walk Down Memory Lane

    9 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌧 70 °F

Still stinky and sweaty from pickleball 🏓💦, Beth met up with Don and headed over to visit the new owners of their old home in Foxland Harbor.

Yes … we still keep in touch! 😊

Some of you may not know, but the house was hit by a tornado just five months after we sold it. 😱 The new owner told us she didn’t want to change a thing because she loved it the way it was — she said it was perfect!

    What a compliment! 🙌💛

We not only got to see photos of the tornado damage, but we also got to walk through the house while they were repairing floors and walls. It was wild to see the impact — and even more amazing to see how beautifully it’s been rebuilt.

She also shared that friends and family often tell her she doesn’t need to take a vacation… because she already lives in a resort! 🏝️ Funny enough, we used to say the exact same thing when we lived there.

We sure do miss this view. 🌅💭

    9 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 79 °F

This morning, Beth enjoyed playing pickleball at Veterans’ Park in Hendersonville with a fantastic group of ladies — mostly longtime friends from when she lived here, plus a few new faces!

She played non-stop for over two hours and while she didn’t get to play with everyone, y’all brought the heat! ❤️🔥❤️

Big thanks to Tammy for organizing such a fun morning. The energy was amazing, and it was SO good to see so many smiling faces.

Lunch after was quick but sweet—Beth truly treasured the time with those who could make it.

Loved the good games, warm wishes, and great company. Until next time—take care and keep playing hard! 😊

  • Fore Real Fun! 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

    8 de junio, Estados Unidos

During lunch, Randy casually dropped some intriguing news: he’d taken on a new hobby—and even gave his garage a full makeover to support it. Naturally, curiosity got the best of us, so we headed over to check it out!

Speculation was wild on the way there…
    Don’s guesses included:
    🔥 A Traeger-themed man cave
    🌸 A she-shed
    🏓 A personal pickleball court
🚗 A new car (or truck!)
    🐶 A puppy mill (don’t worry, just a joke 😂)

Turns out… it was a golf simulator!

The Walkers all took a few swings before Delaina had to head out of town with her sister, Denise. Beth made her exit soon after to run some errands, leaving the guys to enjoy a full round of virtual golf.

They played the iconic Pebble Beach course—and it was surprisingly realistic! You could hear the waves crashing against the shore and birds chirping in the background. The only thing missing was the salty breeze. 🌊🐦

Don had a great time—and got a reminder of why he doesn’t golf! 😄
Though now he’s considering getting some lessons and picking up the sport. 👀🏌️‍♂️

Seriously, it was fantastic. We can’t wait to come back and play again.

  • Just another PB morning… or was it?

    8 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌩️ 75 °F

We had another fun morning on the courts with Jake, Dylan, Chris, Tim, and a special guest—Linda, our neighbor from RP!

Funny story: One morning, Don was looking out the window of the Coach and said to Beth, “That 5th wheel looks familiar!” Turns out, it was familiar. Shortly after, Rick—our neighbor from RP—stepped out of that very 5th wheel!

Apparently, he and his wife Linda have been coming to the Grand Ole RV Resort for the past 10 years to attend the CMAs. And here’s the kicker: we were parked in the exact spot they always reserve every year!

What a coincidence… or maybe just a sweet little reminder that the road is full of surprises—and friendly faces.

    7 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌩️ 75 °F

Made it to the Ascend Amphitheater for Wynonna Judd’s Girls Night Out—and what. a. night. 🙌

    Tonight’s Lineup:
🎶 Student Performance – A special CMA Foundation grant recipient kicked things off, showing just how powerful investing in music education can be!
🎤 Madeline Edwards – Blending country, soul, and jazz, Madeline brought her powerhouse vocals and bold style. She’s one to watch!
🎤 Sara Evans – A longtime country favorite, Sara gave us all the feels with her hits like “A Little Bit Stronger” and “Born to Fly.”
🎤 Wynonna + Friends – Wynonna was spectacular—her voice? Still an absolute force. She lit up the stage with:
    • The War and Treaty – A husband-wife duo with gospel roots and unbelievable energy.
    • Noeline Hofmann – A rising artist mentored through the CMA Foundation’s Artist Fellowship.
    • Noah Cyrus – Moody, soulful, and surprisingly perfect alongside Wynonna.
    • Little Big Town – Harmonies tighter than Broadway traffic.

🎉 SURPRISE GUEST: Lainey Wilson! She brought the house down joining Wynonna for “Mama He’s Crazy” and hopped on stage with Little Big Town for a fired-up “Girls Night Out.” Unreal!

The only thing louder than the music? Broadway after the show. 🤯 Making our way back to the parking garage was quite the adventure.

Like we said … “What a night!!” 🎶💃✨

    7 de junio, Estados Unidos

CMA weekend wasn’t done with us yet! After our bike ride, we cleaned up and headed downtown to meet up with Andrea, Cody, and Terri (Cody’s mom). Found the Stilwells by the food trucks just in time to admire Cody’s last-minute sandwich victory. 🤪

Bellies full, we made a sparkly pit stop at Dolly’s exhibit—think butterflies, flowers, lights, and rhinestones everywhere. Popcorn was had, Don taste-tested Dolly’s wine, and yes… even Beth had a sip. Verdict? Fabulous.

Then it was off to the Ascend Amphitheater for “Girls Night Out”— a star-studded female lineup - because Thursday just wasn’t enough. 🎶✨

Bonus moment: Andrea spotted Raymundo from The Bobby Bones Show and snagged a quick pic like the country music ninja she is! 🎯📸🎶

Two wheels, fresh mods, and miles of smiles! 🚴‍♀️😄

Beth took her newly upgraded bike out for a spin today, and we gave our new helmets—with built-in intercoms—a test run. Being able to chat while we ride? Total game changer!

We started at the Wave Country/Two Rivers Skate Park lot, cruised along the Shelby Bottoms Greenway, crossed the scenic pedestrian bridge 🌉, and looped through Shelby Park. All told, we clocked in around 16.5 miles—winding through familiar paths and discovering a few trails we swear weren’t there before. Secret level unlocked? 🤔

Cornelia Fort Airpark was a hightlight—a tucked-away spot with WWII history and even a brush with Elvis lore. Riding down the old runway felt like biking through a living postcard from Nashville’s past. ✈️🎶

Nature showed up big: 7 deer, 5 geese, 1 bunny, a turtle, and a hawk. 🦌🪿🐇🐢🦅 Felt like our very own woodland welcome crew.

Perfect weather, fun route, and Beth’s loving her new ride. 💪💨

Bonus: Wrapped it all up with lunch at Chuy’s. Chips + that creamy jalapeño ranch dip = straight-up magic. 😋

Friday Night = Steak & Game Night at Jake’s! 🥩🎲
Everyone pitched in for dinner, and let’s just say… we crushed it.

The star of the show? Picanha steaks—perfectly seasoned and grilled by Don to juicy, flavorful perfection. 🔥👏 And in a surprise twist, Don whipped up the FREE potatoes he scored Thursday at CMA Fest. Yes, the “just add water” kind that looked suspiciously like sawdust… but you know what? They actually tasted like real potatoes! 🥔👏 Beth was slightly skeptical but took a tiny bite—and had to admit, Don was right. (Just don’t expect her to eat them again.) 😅

    As for game night?

But fear not! Don still got his sweat on. We hit the courts with Jake, Cody, and the ever-surprising Andrea—who’s been leveling up like a champ! 🚀 She’s been sneaking in some killer shots lately — the kind that make us do a double take. • Where the Bear Roams and the Zebra Zooms

    4 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F

In the local news… because apparently Tennessee is now a wildlife reality show.

First, there’s a bear running around Gallatin. A real, live bear. Not the kind from a picnic basket cartoon—this one’s out there living its best life, probably wondering why every trash can in town has a padlock and why people keep pointing iPhones at it instead of just saying hello. This was a first for Gallatin.

Then—because the universe said “why stop at one escape artist?”—a zebra decided to make a break for it not far from here. A ZEBRA. Strutting down the road like it just missed the safari bus and refuses to assimilate.

At this point, we’re one escaped llama away from a full-blown country zoo parade. If you see a giraffe peeking over your fence or a flamingo doing laps in your kiddie pool, just go with it.

As for us? We’re keeping a bag of marshmallows and some carrots by the door—just in case our next visitor has paws or hooves.

(Side note: Sadly, the bear’s adventure ended after it was hit by a car. The zebra, however, is still at large and collecting sightings like a local celebrity.)

  • Grip It, Rip It, & Try Not to Launch It

    3 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 88 °F

We’re thoroughly enjoying our time with our son, Jake, and feeling extra grateful for these moments together. ❤️

This afternoon, we took our talents (questionable as they may be) to Topgolf with Doug and Darolyn. Turns out Doug isn’t just a chef—he’s also a low-key golf instructor! With his own clubs in hand and the confidence of someone who’s watched at least three YouTube tutorials, Doug guided us through grip, stance, swing… and club selection, which is apparently not just “whichever one’s closest.”

By the end of our session, we were all basically pros. Okay, maybe not tour-ready, but let’s just say there were fewer air swings and more actual contact with the ball.🏌️🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

Beth even managed to hang onto the club—and didn’t accidentally launch it into the outfield like a javelin. 😳 So, you know… progress!

  • Pickleball Throwbacks and Familiar Faces

    3 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

Another morning on the pickleball courts! Today, Beth, Don, and Jake hit the courts at Veterans Park in Hendersonville with Beth’s buddy and former co-coach, Chris.

And look who we ran into—Jimmy! One of Beth’s old pickleball pals! Jimmy coached her in singles back when she was training for the National Senior Games… during peak COVID times—when the only thing more contagious than the virus was Beth’s competitive spirit. (Too soon? Maybe. But accurate.)

Beth knew him as “Slamming Jimmy,” and everyone said the same thing: he drove everything. You better be ready, or you’re just target practice.

  • Back to the Beginning… and Locked Out

    2 de junio, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

We wrapped up the evening with a nostalgic trip down memory lane—literally—by heading back to the first neighborhood we lived in when we moved to Tennessee (cough) about 20 years ago.

There, we had dinner and caught up with longtime friends Carmen & Dave, Deanna & Ronnie, and Carmen’s sister—whose name we swear we practiced three times but still can’t pronounce without a phonetic guide—and her very patient husband, George.

The evening kicked off with some light conversation over a charcuterie board and Caprese skewers. We ate them like classy people, pinkies out and everything.

Dinner was, as always, dangerously delicious: crisp green salad, seafood nestled in mysterious black pasta (which I’m convinced turns your soul just a little more Italian), and golden, garlicky toast that probably violated some vampire treaties.

But the dessert—oh sweet sugar rush—was a whole festival of temptation. And let’s be honest: you couldn’t pick just one. That’s a rookie move. So we nibbled on a little bit of everything: Lemon Bundt Cake with whipped cream and strawberries, Boston Cream Pie Cake, and the pièce de résistance—peanut butter fudge, lovingly crafted by Deanna in honor of Don. Naturally, she sent him home with a “to-go” container the size of a shoebox. The man has a peanut butter problem, and we support him fully.

As the night wound down, the ladies took a lovely little stroll outside to soak in the view, while the gentlemen retreated to the garage to sip bourbon and talk about whatever it is men talk about in garages (tractors? thermostats? the golden age of socket wrenches?).

    Then came the grand finale.

The guys, apparently feeling very secure in their bourbon-fueled camaraderie, locked up the garage… and also the house. With the women still outside.

Was it a practical joke or a bourbon-induced brain fog? Was it “Oops!” or “Oops… teehee”? You decide. Either way, we’ll be laughing about it (from inside the house) for years to come.

Meanwhile, Don trades his paddle for pedals and tears up the Cedar Hills Park trails—because sometimes a guy just needs an adrenaline fix that doesn’t involve a whiffle ball.

On the way back, Don swings by the courts to scoop up Beth… but wait! Detour alert! It’s pool time with The Stilwells. Bonus: a pit stop at 7 Brew for a free drink during their soft opening. (Nothing says “athletes in recovery” like caffeine and chlorine.)

The day wraps up around a bonfire at The Cabin with Smokey the Bear’s stylish cousin Darolyn (seriously, she owns the ranger look) and Chef Doug, who never disappoints. Tonight’s menu? Fire-grilled hot dogs with all the fixin’s, a “mashed” cucumber salad, and Doug’s legendary 29-bean baked beans (fine, maybe 9—but who’s counting?). Everyone had seconds—even the girls!
