  • Rosewood Plantation

    14. juli 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

So we had a pretty educational day. The Rosewood Plantation aka Mount Vernon (not sure how that works). 🤔
Anyway. Pretty cool to see 1st hand. It seemed like these people were at least decent to their slaves (If that is even possible) They let their slaves to become share croppers..
We seen a new kinda wasp that thankfully we don't have in Oregon. The Red Velvet Ant. Really amazing looking. The females can sting and don't have wings and the male's can't sting and have wings. Apparently their sting hurts so bad people say it could kill a cow. So it is also known as the cow killer (It has yet to do so).
Also seen a couple Mississippi Kite birds. They are a Rapture. Very pretty.
There are also some very amazing plants and flowers here.

  • Manatee Spring State Park

    17. juli 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 86 °F

Very Beautiful park. The water was amazing. About 75°. However we did not swim. Not sure if it was because of the Alligator signs or the cold water. 🤔
P.S. Seen our first alligator today!

  • Everglades National Park

    19. juli 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

Spent a couple days in the Everglades. Took a bit to get there. Enjoyed some construction zone. Amazing the flaggers and work crew. No vest, no hard hat's. Crazy weird.

  • Everglades

    21. juli 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

  • Turtle 🐢 Hospital in the Keys

    24. juli 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

Went to the Turtle 🐢 Hospital today. Very sad 😔.
FACEMASK are the #1 problem for Turtles today.
Learned quite a bit about Turtles. Never knew their spines were basically in their shell at the very top.
Decided to camp at the State Park were they let some of the Turtles go. Guess what we found, Turtle nests. Very cool 😎.
Also they use honey 🍯 for healing the wounds. Maybe Tony should donate some! Lol

  • Heading to Crystal Springs

    25. juli 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

So we are leaving the Keys today. We stopped at Robbies and fed the Tarpon. I screwed up the Video of Jo and only got some crappy photos.
We stopped at the Blonde Giraffe 🦒 and got some Key Lime Pie 🥧 😋
We are going on a kayak tour on Wednesday with the Manatees... Can't wait!
P.S. We were going to go to Miami to visit our cousin Victor and his wife Lisa, but terrible news, they got Covid-19 😢 💔, you know what that means.... No visit 😔. Quite the bummer. We Face timed and that was fun, but so not the same.

  • Day of Sadness and traveling

    26. juli 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ☁️ 81 °F

Making our way to 3 Sister's springs to go Kayaking. We traveled a good distance, got caught in horrible traffic, payed our Tolls to get through traffic faster, and to top it off we didn't get to see our cousin due to him and his wife (Lisa) getting Covid-19 😢. We were scheduled to see Victor Hyder aka "the golden child" but unfortunately that did not happen. We were truly saddened for many reasons.Les mer

  • 3 Sister's Springs Kayaking

    28. juli 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

So we had fun Kayaking. We didn't get the pleasure of seeing any Manatees, but had an amazing time. The Kayak Tour Guide seen one Manatee while holding our kayaks, while we went swimming in the springs. Just our luck!Les mer

  • Bristol Caverns Tennessee

    2. august 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

    We made it I think!
    Very confusing little park.
It is in bits and pieces and our map even though provided by the park was hard to figure out.
We had a great time and stayed the night at Babcock State Park. Seen more fireflies and starting to see wildlife again. Does and fawns and of course cotton tail bunnies.
On the way we stopped at Bristol Caverns. It was in Tennessee. Privately Owned. A young man "Tyler" was our guide. He had been working here for 2.5 years and still in high school. His brother worked there as well.

  • New River Gorge National Park

    3. august 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 90 °F

So we made it with a few snappy looks at each other as the maps and directions were so hard to figure out. We did have a good time. Not many pictures because we only seen 3 things, because it takes so long to get to each one. Bery crazy. This National Park has people living within the park. Kinda unusual. They lived in trailers and in groups. Kinda like a trailer park. Anyway off to Virginia. Can't wait to get out of West Virginia!Les mer

  • Heading to Virginia

    4. august 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 93 °F

  • Monticello and More storms

    5. august 2022, Forente stater ⋅ 🌧 77 °F

Went to Shenandoah National Park today. Storm blew in so we decided to leave and head to Thomas Jefferson home Monticello. We paid our dues and headed to the bus. Got to the house made the next tour and made it through the house. We had to hurry as we wanted to make it for the slavery tour. Got to that tour and we were told that it was being canceled for inclement weather 😒. We were ask/told to please go wait under the eave and wait. We found a bench and had a seat.
An hour later the weather was the same. We were 2 of the last 4 on the bus ride back down the hill. We had a little time left before the museum closed so we got to watch a 5 minute video about Thomas and how he ONLY FREED 10 SLAVE'S! VERY SAD 😔. Guess he truly was a hypocrite!
Forgot, we also went to the Natural Bridge and seen where George Washington ingraved his initials in the rock in "1883"

  • Insane asylum

    9. august 2022, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 93 °F

CRAZY DAY! We left Allison's and headed to Paducah. Figured it would take a couple days so we went ahead and stopped at an old insane asylum. Wow crazy 🤪! This Doctor did lobotomies on people loke it was nothing. I realize back in the day it took scientists to figure things out but seriously! They had actual footage of him doing these. Very hard to watch. It was to say the least disturbing! There was a 12 year old boy who's stepmother thought needed to be committed, the doctor did a lobotomy on him. He was lucky enough to survive. He currently lives in California living a normal life. Most died from this!Les mer
