    Seal Snorkeling

    December 20, 2022 in South Africa ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

It was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had the opportunity of taking. We joined a group of people at the Animal Ocean Seal Snorkeling place. We got given wetsuits and other equipment, received a briefing, and loaded into a car and made our way to Hout Bay Harbor. There, we got into a small boat and traveled to Seal Island (or formally called Duiker Island). A small island is inhabited by hundreds of seals and surrounded by a kelp forest, which keeps sharks and other predators away. We put on the rest of our snorkeling gear and jumped into the ice cold Ocean. From the moment we first placed our head under the water, we were greeted by a few seals swimming around. The curiosity of these creatures allowed them to come up and close to us. They swam, they played, they showed off for us. The great thing about the company we went snorkeling with is that they ensure that nothing happens to the environment the seals live in to ensure their safety. It was incredible and definitely a mind-blowing experience that I will carry with me forever.Read more
