After our Capybara's visit, we decided to visit the Shinjuku region to visit the famous Godzilla 🐲 used in the movies and to have some lunch.

While the famous Shinkansen bullet train to Kyoto was definitely more the scenic route, it was financially better to fly to Osaka Itami and grab a bus from here to Kyoto.

After arriving in Kyoto early afternoon, we were unable to check-in to our hotel yet, so we decided to leave our luggage with the hotel and walk over to the nearest temple, which was Higashi Hongan-ji

Thereafter we went to the Nishiki Market to have a late lunch/early dinner and trying out many of those tasty snacks including milt in ponzu sauce, blood clam sashimi and some grilled seafood!

Unfortunately the famous bamboo forest we were so keen to visit was more of a miss due to the large numbers of tourists and it's rather small size, though the bamboo on itself was impressive to see.
