  • White Beach

    12. januar 2025, Australien ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

An accidental mix up on dates led us to a night at White Beach. It was really nice spot, right on the beach. The kids both got to catch their first squid off the jetty. We also fit in a quick adventure to the old coal site.

Realising that Luke’s favourite thing will be to reuse all of his old jokes on new people wherever we go. White Beach was a great spot for the night, glad the kids got to catch some squid for dinner.

From the moment we got to White Beach Caravan park we were greeted with many local travellers, one gentleman provided us with an arabica fishing knowledge which allowed us to chase the target species of calamari and it was a successful fish. The other locals still laughed at my jokes, it was refreshing to know that I still have funny wit about me although my family doesn’t appreciate my funniness, it was nice to get a laugh. - Luke

I loved catching a squid and throwing it back because it was a cutey baby and I loved snuggling up in the towel watching dad fish and looking at the fish in the water. - Adelaide

Oh how wonderful it is to be surrounded in beautiful animals. The caravan park sells food to feed to the birds and wallabies. Such a special moment for the kids to be able to hand feed wild wallabies.

I loved feeding the little wallabies. - Adelaide

For such a beautiful place some pretty horrific things have happened here. -Luke

I loved looking at where my card was. Charlotte was beautiful and crazy. She has 12 kids! - Adelaide

  • Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen and Doo town

    15. januar 2025, Australien ⋅ 🌬 19 °C

We are really getting a feel for these adventures! Long uphill trails are still a little tough but Adelaide has kept going with every challenge we set her. Henry on the other hand is mainly getting carried by dad. Today we saw many places, Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen, Waterfall Bay, a blowhole and Doo Town. We loved all the sights but particularly liked all the house names in Doo Town.

Today I enjoyed exploring as a family and this is a pretty nice life to live- Luke

After a recommendation from a local we went to the Cottage Garden Cafe. Such a beautiful spot with lovely owners. We were greeted at the gate by the beautiful Labrador Captain. We were surrounded by stunning gardens and a great view of the water. We had coffees and delicious homemade treats. The kids even got to play with the baby rabbits. Adelaide and Henry have decided they want rabbits when we get home. Addie wants a white one named Snowy and Henry wants a blue one named Sharky Sharky.Læs mere

  • Springvale Winery

    17. januar 2025, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Definitely one of the best spots in Tasmania. Crystal and Rod have made our stay so wonderful. We have loved catching up with them doing wine tours and the kids mowing the paddocks with the tractor. I am sure that will be amazing big highlight of the trip for Henry. Just look at that smile!

We are so lucky to stay in such a wonderful spot on the farm. I may end up with a drinking problem if I stay too much longer though, only because the wine is just so good! -Lauren

Good wine, good company, good laughs. It will be sad to not wake up and see the top marsh, middle marsh and bottom marsh when I walk out of the caravan in the morning. I hope the boys got D block mowed today.

I liked riding on the tractors and it was funny seeing the chicken on the fence. It was nice getting my pictures. - Adelaide

Thank you Rod for getting me in the tractor. Getting the chicken eggs out of the nest was fun. - Henry

  • St Helens and more

    20. januar 2025, Australien ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Thanks to our wonderful friends Crystal, Rod and Zoe we have spent some time exploring St Helens and the surrounds. We visited the Pondering Frog on the way up and then headed to the Bay of Fires. The next day we ventured to the cheese shop, The Pub in the Paddock where the kids gave the pig a ‘beer’, the Litte Blue Lake and lastly for a fossick at Gladstone. We ended our days in swims in the pool. It was also lovely to catch up with Shaz and Don who treated us dinner and when we were in need of a gold pan we were sure to find one with Don.

We are so lucky to have such beautiful friends so share their home with us. It was lovely to have Zoe join our adventures and play with the kids. They will definitely miss them all. - Lauren

I loved going in the pool, bring them presents and celebrating with them. - Adelaide

  • Old Macs farm and Catarct Gorge

    29. januar 2025, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

We always love see the animals, so a stay at Old Mac’s has been lovely. Feeding the animals is always fun but the emus were a little scary to feed. Addie got a new bike which she helped to build with daddy and grandad. She put a sign free on the old one and a kid picked it up and was sharing with his sister the same day. It was a really nice lesson to show giving something to a stranger rather than throwing it out is a really nice thing to do. Henry has also become so confident in his big boy bike after skipping training wheels.

Caught up with an old mate for a beer. - Luke

I liked feeding the animals, looking at them and going to the little restaurant. - Adelaide

  • Adventures near Davenport

    31. januar 2025, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Today we arrived in Davenport and explored from there. We started by visiting the chocolate shop, watching how the yummy treats are made and then sampling some. We then went to the Devils gate dam which was a little underwhelming to be honest. Then we headed to Tazmazia and the Village of the Lower Crackpot which the kids absolutely loved. Our last stop was Sheffield to see the amazing murals.

What a day! The murals blew me away. - Lauren

It was a ‘dam’ good day and Tazmazia was aMAZEing! - Luke

I liked seeing the little houses and the floor was lava and we had to jump on the logs. We also saw the three little pigs straw, stick and brick houses. - Adelaide

Although we have had some van issues and were stuck in Melbourne we decided to stay at the caravan park and chill in the pool to survive the 40 degree heat. We also enjoyed outdoor movies each night.

We didn’t take many photos as we were too busy not being busy! We really enjoyed the sunshine.

  • Bendigo

    7. februar 2025, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

Spent the day in Bendigo. It was fantastic to catch up with Davo and his Dad who showed us the ropes with the metal detector. Although we didn’t find gold we did find some bullets which was pretty cool.

The biggest kid had the most fun today reliving his glory days. - Lauren

Great to catch up with Davo. It’s amazing how years can go by but it’s like no time has passed at all amongst good friends. It was good to have a metal detector back in my hands doing something that I truly loved doing in the army. - Luke

I liked finding the bullets because they were from the army when they lived in the bush. The bushes were spiky and I also got bitten by an ant in the bush. It was a fire ant. I liked the ice cream that we got after the army stuff, I got rainbow flavour with marshmallows and chocolate. -Adelaide

  • Sovereign Hill

    9. februar 2025, Australien ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Today we ventured to Sovereign Hill. I think the biggest kid had the best time again. We panned for gold, saw an old mining battery grind up the quartz, watched a demonstration for gold smelting. We also went underground into a mine which was very dark and cool. The kids loved making candles, the park and riding in the horse and carriage.

Luke has the fever and stayed at the gold panning half the day but it was good to see a cheeky smile on his face. Adelaide suggested we see the gold pouring demonstration. I loved watching the gold get poured it was amazing. So bright and shiny! - Lauren

Eureka! I have found a new hobby that takes up even more time than my previous hobbies and cost more than previous hobbies. But the chance to strike it rich is worth it!
    Luke’s birthday Wishlist:
    - metal detector
    - gold pan
    - sluice box
    - gold maps
    - time to find the gold -Luke

The soldiers marched and shot their guns but it was fake. I liked when the guns made a big pop sound. I liked getting a toffee apple after watching them be made. There were other types of lollies and we got a free one to try. I loved making my candle. I enjoyed riding the horse on the playground and the real horse and carriage ride.

    10. februar 2025, Australien ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

What a treat it was to go visit Davo on his house boat. The kids thought it was pretty special and we loved seeing the cool life our friend lives. We also went gold hunting again and besides our first find being fools gold we did add some flakes to our collection in the end from the Bobby’s secret spot.

It was so good to catch up with Davo and a visit from Bicky. We appreciate all Davo and Bobby’s secret gold tips. I do think you may have cause our family a very expensive hobby though. Haha. - Lauren

Lake Eildon, once again didn’t disappoint with beautiful company, beautiful views and weather. Many laughs and a chance to catch up with some old friends. Having first hand mentoring and guidance from the gold whisperer himself Bobby and his apprentice Davo I now feel that I am prepared to spend copious amounts of money and time to feed my gold fever. I’ll still be the guy with all the gear and no idea.- Luke

I loved playing with the puppies in the lake because it was a really hot day. The house boat was super cool and I loved the water park and the flying fox. - Adelaide

  • Traralgon

    14. februar 2025, Australien ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

We had lots of fun in Traralgon. We saw the giant magpie on the way and had a quick visit to the park before we got there. Once we arrived we spent our days doing all of the parks attractions. Addie went in the ropes course with her daddy and Henry did some putt putt with me. Within one minute of entering the play centre Addie was invited to a birthday party. We ended up spending a bit of time with the family and the kids have made some lovely new friends.

The kids making new friends has forced us to talk to new people everywhere we go which has been so lovely to meet people who are travelling from all over Australia. We have had our moments of the usually hecticness of what comes with living in a small place together but mostly I am just loving being on this once in a lifetime adventure with my family. - Lauren

I am truly amazed with the amount of growth and confidence the kids have shown in such a little amount of time. I was so proud to see Adelaide tackle her fears and go on the ropes course and seeing the confidence Henry has with making friends everywhere we go. I love how we are all coming together as a family even with many stresses that we have had with the caravan. I wouldn’t want to travel with anyone else. Lauren is truly my best friend and I love her dearly. - Luke

  • Buchan Caves

    20. februar 2025, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

We visited Buchan caves today. It was a magical cave with fairy dust everywhere. Photos do no justice to the beautiful sparkling formations. Henry even brought his glowing hot wheels car to join in on the fun.

Second cave on the trip, it was cool to see the similarities and the differences. It always amazes me to see how with millions of years nature has created such incredible sights.

It is amazing how a simple cave visit with the family can turn out to be a CrossFit workout. 780 odd stairs and I managed to carry Henry for 90%, working hours a sweat and getting a sweet leg pump despite Henry saying his legs were working today. - Luke

I liked the fairy door and I liked its glitter sparkling everywhere in the cave. - Adelaide

I liked the fairy hole. The lady turned the light off and everyone say wow look at the glowing it’s hot wheels. - Henry

  • Beach days, bike rides and schooling

    23. februar 2025, Australien ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

We have loved chilling in Eden. Many adventures at the surrounding beaches, climbing rocks and checking out the sea creatures. We went for a bike ride in a nature reserve and learnt the difference between invertebrates and vertebrates. We have loved schooling in parks, camp kitchen and at the beach.

Schooling has been a slow start with a struggle to be motivated for both Addie and I. But we have found our flow and set time aside each day and often include chocolate in our maths lessons. We love having adventures afterwards too. - Lauren

Our extended stay at Eden has been quite a strenuous stay as I have had to spend countless hours harvesting fish to provide for my family. Some people may think that spending hours on a beach watching the tide slowly drift away and dealing with the Ebs and flows that accompany fishing is an easy job but I have had to spend many hours away from the family with a lot of alone time. - Luke

I like learning on holidays and I like boogie boarding yesterday because I did it by myself backwards and forwards. - Adelaide

Rock rock rock. Climb climb climb all the way to the bottom. Making a rock rock coz I like the rock pool. - Henry
