  • Family time

    May 21 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

How wonderful for our children to be able to get to see and play with their cousins. It is so beautiful how naturally they are together like they see each other all the time. We are totally spoilt to get this time with them all. Lots of swims, parks and even mini trains rides. We even got to see Daddy’s cousin Sam and her beautiful family and have plays with them too.

I loved playing with my cousins in the pool because we jumped in the pool and slided together. We wanted to play a game that we we hided from the adults. We had to make a home and hide from the adults in the dark. - Adelaide

  • Wallaman falls

    May 27 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Our first venture with the rooftop ten was a success. We first went to the beautiful Wallaman falls. Although we did consider just looking from the top, we decided there was no better way to see it than getting nice and close so we walked the crazy long trail to the bottom. Even though Addie was not sure it was worth it we certainly loved it. We then went back and set up the tent for the night, had cold showers and cooked dinner. Daddy slept great on the swag and mummy maybe had a little bit of sleep in-between the kids on the roof. We saw gorgeous butterflies and a wild cassowary it was awesome.

Wallaman Falls was absolutely breathtaking. A memory I’ll have forever. - Lauren

I want to take an opportunity to apologies to my son Henry for the swearing profusely whilst carrying you on my shoulders through the treacherous track. You did complain a lot about the sweat and how tough the walk was although you mainly sat on my shoulders. - Luke

Cairns was full of fun memories of making new friendships that will last a lifetime. Both families felt they just hadn’t met their type of people on the road. We were stoked to have the past few days with one another. The kids got along so well and so did the parents. We played mini golf, rode around on pedal bikes, watched movies, played games and had lots of swims together.

Today we left Cairns and started our journey towards the Cape. We stopped in at Palmer River Roadhouse and had iceblocks. After a nights sleep we drove down the road to Hann River Roadhouse where mum got a delicious coffee and the kids had a play at the park. We then headed to the next destination for the night.

I was very excited to discover that Palmer River fossicking area produces good opportunities to find the elusive gold nugget. Will definitely be a stop on the way back down. - Luke

I loved going to the park. It was fun because there was a swing that was a tyre swing and there was a sea saw. There were also some slides. There were some animals, one cow, two goats, and a peacock and a peahen. The peacocks name was Henry and we got to keep a feather from him. - Adelaide

  • Fruit Bat Falls, Elliot and Twin Falls

    June 6 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

What an amazing part of the world that most people don’t get the pleasure of experiencing. Fruit Bat Falls was so beautiful but we were a little hesitant swimming there knowing they had pulled a croc out a few weeks earlier and Elliot falls apparently had to crocs swimming around so our favourite spot was Twin Falls as it was croc free, crystal clear and perfect for the kids. We camped close to the water falls so we were able to walk to them each day for swims.

A spot I will never forget. What a beautiful place! - Lauren

Pictures don’t do it justice. Such a beautiful part of the country we are fortunate enough to live in. It was lovely meeting and chatting with complete strangers about their adventures whilst relaxing in the waterfalls. Special shout out to my mate Wes who was slogging away working to rebuild the boardwalks whilst everyone else relaxed in the refreshing waterfalls. - Luke

  • Alua Beach

    June 8 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

A quick one night stop at Alua Beach was nice. The pool was not working but we had a nice beach walk a fair way from the water so we didn’t get eaten by crocs but were able to fill my pockets with shells from the kids. The kids enjoyed the homemade swings. Beautiful spot!

It was unfortunate that the pool was broken but it was still nice to explore the area. It made it somewhat difficult with the kids as they could see it and wanted to go in but couldn’t. Really wish I brought my fishing rod! - Luke

I loved swinging on the swing because the pool was broken. There were two swings. We also met new people and they gave us money for the washing machine. We also had some apples for breakfast and cereal and snacks. For dinner we had hotdogs, chicken, cheese and corn wraps. We had fun at that place. That place was fun. -Adelaide

We drove about six and a half hours today to start getting home to the van a bit quicker as the kids are ready for it. We drove to Hanns River Roadhouse which was amazing for the kids. They swam and played in the park. The best and most special part for them was cuddling and feeding the three week old baby goats.

It was such a beautiful experience for the kids to feed the baby goats. One was super hungry and kept trying to eat everything including my pyjamas. - Lauren

It’s hard to get a sleep in when the roosters go off at 5 o clock, then the kookaburras at 6, then the cow at 6 thirty. Living the life. - Luke

    June 12 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

We ventured to the beautiful Mossman Gorge and had a little dip but not too much because it felt like an ice bath. It was so beautiful. We stayed at Port Douglas and enjoyed two nights allowing the kids to have lots of fun in the swimming pool and splash park. Henry had to FaceTime the dogs though as he was really missing them. As always the kids made more new friends.

O love that Adelaide is finding such an appreciation for nature and seeing the beauty around her. -Lauren

I loved going to the slide because it had a yellow one for the pool and the splash pad had a blue one. It was so fast and amazing. There was a bucket that tipped down every minute. I liked going on the blue slide the most because it was very fast. Henry and me both went on the blue slide together. We saw a boy at the park and went to play with him the last day before leaving. What great stops. More amazing waterfalls and rainforests for us to explore. Both were totally freezing with not much sun about but still super fun. Addie was a little traumatised after tipping over the caterpillar floaty
though. We got to see some glimpses of the famous Clyde the crocodile. We fed a bandicoot some bread and then had our last sleep in the rooftop before heading to Townsville to pick up the van.

I could spend hours on that rock slide if the kids were not over it and freezing. Definitely a good spot. - Lauren

I am very proud of both Adelaide and Henry for going down the rock slide at Josephine Falls. It will be good not to have to set up the roof top tent and looking forward to washing the car. - Luke

  • Townsville again

    June 17 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

After the trip to the Cape a rest and much needed clean was in order. We stopped at Tim and Niki’s house for the week and got ourselves sorted. One rainy day I took the kids to a ninja park and the movies to see Stitch. The kids loved spending time with their cousins.

We really appreciate bearing Abel to see family and get to stay with them allowing the kids to build relationships with one another. - Lauren

Townsville offered a much needed rest and the opportunity to clean everything. However I needed to move Tim into his house and empty two shipping containers, do all his gardening, weeding and set out and mark his shed and pool area whilst trying to clean my own stuff. - Luke

I loved going to the movies and watching Stitch because it was different to the other Stitch. It was fun because Henry lost his cars and we had to find them. It was funny because they were in the bathroom. We also saw our cousins Hugo, he went to school when we went to the movies. We also went to a Ninja Park and we went on a slide.. we couldn’t run up the wall so we went up the slide. It was still fun. -Adelaide

I love my Hugo and I like my haircut, bye. - Henry

Before we left Richmond we had a go at fossicking for fossils and we think we found some pieces of bivalve clam which has been there for 100 million years.
