    Honkers

    31 mars 2018, Hong Kong ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

Dad arrived at 7:30 am. We drove out of our driveway and turned left onto Old Cleveland Rd, then went over the gateway bridge to the airport. We really wanted dad to come in to the airport but he just dropped us at the curve and drove off!! (Jokes)

9 hours later on Qantas we arrived in HONKERS!!!
It’s 10pm brissy time. We had time for a walk and dinner in town. Now bedtime!

Took the subway to HK island and walked around the botanical gardens. Very nice.
Walked to Man Mo temple which was great and found an awesome alley of antique market stalls and did some souvenir shopping.
ALMOST, took a cable car up the mountain called Victoria Peak, but there was a HUGE line up so we bailed.
Subway home to hotel for a swim and a sleep.
Walked to the Temple Street night markets which are HUGE!!! More shopping. Amy and the boys love shopping.

    2 april 2018, Hong Kong ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

Up early for buffet breakky, and headed up to Lantau Island, home of the big Buddha.
We caught a cable car up the mountainous island. Walked through a village call Pnong Ping (home of the game ping pong for history buffs).
Saw the 35 m tall, bronze Buddha statue which was awesome. Zachy got sick of selfies, but I think they’re good for him.
Spent time in the monastery which was very beautiful.
    Home for a nap.
For dinner we tried to get up Victoria Peak, thinking there’d be no queue at 6pm. We were wrong!!!! HUGE queue!!!! Were retreated, and caught the subway back to Temple St night markets. Had a big feast of fried rice and lots more shopping!!!

    15 april 2018, Kina ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Got in late last night from Tokyo.
Staying in a big hotel near Tianenmen Square and the Forbidden City. Woke up early, gym, homework, swim.
Unfortunately there isn’t a one party democracy in our family because I got outvoted and we had McDonald’s for brekky and did some shopping in the markets.
Jesse fell asleep in the restaurant that night, and he was so sleepy I balanced a few things on his head!!!

    16 april 2018, Kina ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

Walked to Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest courtyard. Very impressive. Apparently Chairman Meow, saw parades of 1 million people here. Walked to the outskirts of the Forbidden City, but it’s closed today.
Had a Huge lunch feast of Japanese food. The authentic Chinese food here is very weird. Like roast scorpions on sticks! We’ve named the market street nearby “Scorpion Street”. The scorpions aren’t even the grossest thing to eat on that street.
Another walk down Wangfujing street at night which is a huge shopping district.

  • Its Great....and its a Wall.....!!!!

    20 april 2018, Kina ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Great Wall day. Fortunately there’s a good section of it 1.5 hours north of Beijing. The first bit is very busy with domestic tourists (who still love asking for photos with Amy, Zach and Jesse).
We walked a fair way along it and the crowds thinned out a lot.
We were impressed that is was extremely steep in places and even more impressed by the local grannies and grandpas toiling up the steep embankments !!!
