  • Vienna

    9 de mayo de 2024, Austria ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Vienna...has over 50 % of its area as parks... very beautiful...over 100 museums...and lots of universities. Near hotel was an amusement park... awesome...free to enter...just pay for what you do.

  • Vienna Schonbrunn palace

    10 de mayo de 2024, Austria ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Decidant palace...with 23 carat gold leaf as 24 clumps to much. Each side of palace was private gardens...but front and back were always open to the public. Vanessa took a photo of sky and got an angel 😇
Loved the central heating...the large ceramic looking vases radiated heat but all the smoke and feeding the wood was in the internal corridors by the servants...there was 1000 servants!

  • Budapest

    11 de mayo de 2024, Hungría ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Széchenyi Bath, the largest thermal spring bath complex in Budapest was a treat...went thru castle entrance and park to the spa entrance...that was wrong but so elaborate with all the mosaic tiled ceilings.

The other stuff was tour guide views etc...i liked the view thru arches of the large parliament building.

  • Budapest

    11 de mayo de 2024, Hungría ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Bus tour and tour guide of city... awesome view of the new parliament building. Then walked to a mall...lame and too hot inside.... I left v C and K and met in hotel to go to Széchenyi Bath, the largest thermal spring bath complex in Budapest... Uber dropped us on the wrong side of park, which gave us a walk through a castle grounds and park...then we entered the spa side with the mosaic tiled ceiling...to be told the bath entrance was on the other side...best detours as saw awesome things. The bath entrance wasn't elaborate but the large scale with amazing back drops made for a worthwhile thing to do... allow 3 hrs. Inside were pools of various temperatures, but disappointed none were really hot...38 max...they had Turkish steam sauna...I only lasted 30 seconds ! The swedish sauna and aromatic sauna were easy...I did the plunge into cold pool...very refreshing.

A small group from your went to a very good tai restaurant to end the day.

  • Salzburg

    13 de mayo de 2024, Austria ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Arrived in time for pub meal then next morning the tour started...awesome place...clean and fresh air...the sound of music tour was kinda interesting...but I enjoyed my walk up to and around the castle...I took a wrong turn to meet at motzart statue and then went way off and then got told directions to his house in wrong area...and I'm stressed as running for 20 min to meet tour group to leave for Munich...I ended up 6 min late... woops... probably 10 min early if didn't get lost...better not miss the cruise ship coming up!Leer más

  • Venice

    14 de mayo de 2024, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Arrived late 7 pm to hotel with the best room... everyone else got way smaller 🙂Leer más

  • Venice

    14 de mayo de 2024, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Rained today...got wet and cold...and got lost... even Vanessa's sense of direction wasn't good enough for the maze like streets. I paid the most for a toilet stop 1.5 euro...by the end of our walk...17 km...Nice Italian restaurant shouted by C and K as thanks for hosting Elyssa's 21st at our house.Leer más

  • Train to treste for cruise ship

    16 de mayo de 2024, Italia ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Had luck with room...was 500 euro per night... small room was 300. Train was a joke....no cover on platform and waited 45 min in rain....when it bucketed down I went into another train on platform with Ed...we got seats but train was packed...so much that after 2 stops we had to all get off and then get back on with standing people going to a different platform...so dumb... should just be those standing get off!... arrived 1 hour late...but fine for boarding...note we beat the queue by going straight down side to bag drop...as we already had our labels on bags.

Ship is so large it's overwhelming inside with floors 6 to 16 for restaurants, bars with shoes etc.

  • Split in Croatia

    17–21 may. 2024, Croacia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Wow...old history in the old town...walked lots today...up steps to the cross on hill and around the coast line path which was stunning to the first beach...all up 15km on the watch.

The old church on hill was built in 1214.
The old building basement may have been 400ad that we first walked up to the old town...so hard to remember 😔

Had some free time to chill around the pool on boat before dinner and a show.

I had the universal undies/togs swim but v has the photos of that 😎

  • Dubrovnik

    18 de mayo de 2024, Croacia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Boat tour to blue caves...slight ripples so no getting sea sick...Cool colour looking out from inside cave...but if sunny and still would be better. Lovely boat driver - tour boat owner Ivan.

Had lunch in small fishing village of about 300 residents...after first stop at village of about 150... no cars allowed on either.

Craig had some weird black rice dish that was so dark and stained whatever it touched...not a dish for a first date 😂

No time to go to old city with the wall...oh well...got to hang around ship pool before sailing at about 5pm.

  • Corfu

    19 de mayo de 2024, Grecia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Just did hop on and off bus...palace was disappointing... so not worth paying to go in...the beaches around the old city were pretty poor...so main cool things to do were chilling in outside cafe in shade from 28 deg heat and hanging around the ship pool...and doing the ropes type course doing the walk the plank challenge....at the pool they had a water slide drop that is near vertical but both Craig and I couldn't do it as neither were allowed...as we couldn't get our wedding rings off!Leer más

  • Messina for Etna and Taormina

    20 de mayo de 2024, Italia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Had a private tour with another 4 all in a Mercedes van that took 8 passengers. We went to Etna, a dorment volcano and knocked back a 70% alcohol sample called Lava...it certainly warmed the throat going down 😄.

Next was Taormina, a town with lots of shops.

Got back for mini putt on ship...which I won 🙂

  • Naples for Sorrento and Pompeii

    21 de mayo de 2024, Italia ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Sorrento beach was cool...caught a lift down to it from the town above.
Pompeii was so huge...the excavation takes so long with chipping away/around things with a tiny hammer... considering the whole city was buried!

Craig was a trooper... pushing lady around in heat on cobbled paths...her daughter physically couldn't have done it.

  • Cannes

    24 de mayo de 2024, Francia ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Cannes was so so...film festival was on so streets blocked and the red carpet out...some fans and photographers patiently waiting. Cold swim then had afternoon on the ship.

  • Palma Majorca

    25 de mayo de 2024, España ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Church was amazing...the bus ride was terrible as hop on off bus so full waited 1 hour to get on. Castle was nothing great after Europe tour.

Had last night on ship with people from our coach tour...I had my usual starter, 2 mains and a desert... I'm going to weight more when I get home.

Missing my girls and boys 😎

  • Barcelona day 1

    26 de mayo de 2024, España ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Finished our cruise and now 3 days in Barcelona...the church Sagrada familia by guadi was amazing...he died after being hit by a tram...the whole outside was a shell...only in about 1990 did the inside and stained glass windows...he wanted the sun to bring colour inside.
Everything has a story or meaning...52 columns, 7.5metres apart and 7.5m shy of their famous mountain=hill. Certain things weigh 7.5 kg etc. The outside has so many names and stories...one was Jesus with a hammer to depict that he was also a worker...his dad was carpenter from my memory.
They want to build more and nothing is finished...it is always ongoing...they want to buy apartments across the street but owners are holding out for best price knowing church has lots of money.
Just Craig and I went up lift of one of the columns and walked down...so narrow between walls and last section we went off main line and went down the open stairwell that looked like a seashell.

  • Barcelona day 2

    27 de mayo de 2024, España ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

A Vanessa shopping day that worked out great for me...new sandals and vans...spent way more than v...boom 🙂

The posh old city area was lovely...just normal prices but awesome selection.

Had Turkish for dinner but a shared mix platter for 2 cost 35 euro with 2 cokes...so food not cheap in Europe... although Budapest and Croatia were less.

Tomorrow is an early start with a tour that goes to Costa Brava.

  • Barcelona day 3 part 1

    28 de mayo de 2024, España ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Awesome tour...went to Montserrat up in the hills. A rock climbers paradise. Church had a famous statue...the black Madonna that people went up to pray or touch?

Girona a cool old city where Lance Armstrong lived...no wonder there were so many road bike shops...and they very expensive boutique type....and lots of cyclists in there matching Lycra.

Our last stop was Costa Brava...beach at tossa del Brava was a refreshing dip with a castle view.

See more photos in part 2.
