    Secreto

Time for a nightcap. Smoked Sage Margarita, Orange Smoked Old Fashioned and Italian Mark At Secreto Cocktail Bar. The Orange Old Fashioned was brought to us by mistake. And the waitress gave us a Jerry Thomas Smash that a table of drunken 20 somethings denied ordering. Tasty and one of a kind cocktails.

    Mmmmmmm!

    Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monumen

The cone-shaped tent rock formations are the products of volcanic eruptions that occurred 6 to 7 million years ago and left pumice, ash, and tuff deposits over 1,000 feet thick. Over time, weathering and erosion of these layers has created canyons and tent rocks.

Scratch that. Park was full. They were only letting someone in when someone left. We were over a dozen cars back. Will try again tomorrow.

    Santa Fe Railyard

Much ado about nothing. Beautifully revitalized area but today just a few artisans with mediocre wears and various other shops. Imagine it’s much better on Saturdays when the rail-yard hosts Santa Fe’s local farmer’s market.

    Geronimo

An amazing meal from start to finish! Beautiful presentation and perfect balance of tastes and texture. Service was impeccable without being condescending. Look forward to coming back on our next visit.

Met a lovely couple from Massachusetts. They treated us to a glass of grappa which we enjoyed over pleasant conversation. Love this town.

Fine dining in a 1756 adobe home
Warm and inviting, the elegant "Borrego House" was built by Geronimo Lopez in 1756. Thick adobe walls, kiva fireplaces and wood beams surround.

Geronimo is the recipient of the AAA Four Diamond and Mobil/Forbes 4 Star Awards. Voted Opentable "Top 100 Restaurants in the Country"

    Tent Rock Take Two

Set our alarm to get here shortly after the park opened. Had the trail mostly to ourselves for the hike up. Was getting busy on our way down. Gorgeous view. Worth the wait.

    Tomasita's

Located in the old railroad depot in the Railyard Arts District. A restaurant loved by locals. Had a combination plate which included posole (hominy not the soup) and the most light, airy and flaky sopapillas ever served with honey butter.

    Meow Wolf

I never dropped LSD, but after a couple of hours in this interactive museum, I think I have a pretty good idea of what it was like. 😳

Meow Wolf’s first permanent installation, launched in March 2016 with support from Game Of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin, showcases the THEA Award-winning House of Eternal Return, where guests discover a multidimensional mystery house with secret passages, portals to magical worlds, climbing apparatus, and surreal, maximalist & mesmerizing art exhibits.

    Musical Highway

Couldn’t leave New Mexico without driving this brief stretch of Route 66.

Most rumble strips alert drivers they’ve strayed too close to the edge of the road with a loud, grating vibration. The grooved lines on a sleepy stretch of Route 66 near Tijeras, New Mexico have a different trick up their sleeve: They sing.

On this quarter-mile section of the highway, the rumble strips have been engineered to sound like the song “America the Beautiful.” But they won’t croon their patriotic tune for anyone with a lead foot. Drivers have to be going exactly 45 miles per hour (the speed limit) to hear the vibrations in action.
