Holiday 4: Wellington/ Weta workshop

We started the morning slowly, walking around and enjoying a nice coffee.

Our first stop was a small Māori gallery featuring beautiful traditional art. After a quick look around, we picked up Hannah and Chris and drove to the famous Weta Workshop.

This incredible studio is where props, costumes, and sets for movies like The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and Avatar were brought to life. The tour was fascinating, offering a glimpse into the creativity and effort behind these iconic films. As someone trained in a similar field, it felt both inspiring and a little overwhelming, reigniting my urge to do more with my skills.

We couldn’t leave without picking up a few statues and gifts from the store—too many cool things to resist!

Later, I did some computer work and packed for our flight the next day. We wrapped up the evening with a lovely dinner and drinks with Hannah and Chris, cherishing the time before heading off to Christchurch and the start of our campervan adventure.Read more
