    Barranquilla

    August 2, 2022 in Colombia ⋅ 🌧 29 °C

Next stop is a short ride along the coast to Barranquilla, Colombias 4th largest town and not usually a tourist stop but we heard they had a pretty historic centre and some good restaurants as well so thought it would be worth a visit. As its a bigger city we also took the opportunity to get James a Yellow Fever vaccination as we are heading into the Amazon at some point. The Vaccine was more powerful that either of us remember so a whole day was spent recovering, luckily they have Deliveroo here 😍.

The town centre isn't really anything special, a big market selling anything you could need (and shouting about every item right in your ear or blasting music), a couple of churches which are in need of a good clean and a Bolivar statue. We see why most tourists don't stop. A very functional town but we got our admin done so that's a plus. Fun fact though, this is where Shakira was born and raised!
