While Gracie was up in Milwaukee taking her paramedic exam, I took a boat tour and learned a lot of interesting facts about the most iconic buildings of Chicago.

We loved walking through all the Duffy gardens! So many unique plants.
Dinner and sunset

We had dinner at one of Gracie’s Parents favorite places. The dumplings were so good! Then we went back to the Chiang Kai-shek memorial for a golden hour sunset.
A trip to the beach

We took the train up to the north coast. First order of business was jumping in the ocean. Then we walked over to Lovers Bridge and got snacks before hopping on the city bikes.

We stopped for lunch at a swanky restaurant before meandering onwards.
Street market and boba!

After lunch we wandered through a street market, finally got boba, and tried candied strawberries. Then we hopped back on the U Bikes to ride towards the mangroves.

We wandered down a boardwalk that went through a mangrove forest. There were lots of cool crabs and plants.
Night Market

Beitou Hot Springs Museum

The hot springs have been a tourist draw for many years. It was fun to explore the area and learn about its history.

Hiked up a hill to the Spring City Resort. It felt silly going to hot springs on a 90 degree day but nevertheless we persisted. It was a lovely experience and we went back and forth between the warmLĂ€s mer

We headed to Daan Park to enjoy boba and the lovely weather. We then headed to the grocery store to pick up some things to take home and then to a restaurant pick up some dinner.
Elephant Mountain hike

Gracie’s mom lead us on a hike to the top of elephant mountain to see view of the city. It was grueling mile of steep stairs but worth it for the views.

Yinhe Cave Waterfall hike

We hiked to the Yinhe Cave Waterfall and Temple. It was a hot but beautiful jungle hike. We saw a few fun critters and plenty of cool plants. The work Mao in mandarin means cat so the town of MaokongLĂ€s mer

Post hike treats and souvenir shopping. Mary took us to a delicious shaved ice shop and we found some fun trinkets a stationary shop. We also got more scallion pancakes, yum!
Last night dinner

We ended our last day with an Asian BBQ dinner. We loaded up bowls with our choices of meat and veggies, then it was roasted on skewers and delivered to our table. It tasted devine! We wandered backLĂ€s mer

Woke up at 5:30 to head to the airport. Gracie’s flight left 20 minutes after ours so we had some time to hang out before scattering to our respective home states. (All four of us currently live inLĂ€s mer
Back in the states

We left Taiwan at 9:00 am and landed in Seattle 11 hours later at 6:00am. I get to live Friday twice! Next stop, breakfast with Elissa’s parents then a 3.5 hour drive to Portland.
