Welcome to North Dakota!

Welcome indeed! We expected daytime rain yesterday and it didn’t materialize. Last night brought a thunderstorm to Medora, ND where they have an outdoor theater and lots of tasteful Teddy Roosevelt memorabilia and a fantastic collection of bronze sculptures with cowboy themes. Theater-goers reported today that the show was simply delayed for an hour while the storm passed over. These are hearty people!
We’ve been fortunate to enjoy some nice conversations with local people and fellow travelers, which is one of the main pleasures of travel. Today a gentleman gave me a Coke from his RV when I couldn’t get one from a busted vending machine. Someone else left us some ice to cool our water. How cool is that?!?
AND, the landscape is breathtaking. We stopped at the Painted Canyon Visitor’s Center. The colors in the landscape were amazing! Especially because they’ve had so much rain. The blue sky, clouds and landscape have retained my awe day after day.Les mer
