    Entering the high desert area

    October 25, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Again, we got up with a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. The wind was still very strong but the power supplier turned the electricity on again during night. Yesterday our hosts had to run a generator, otherwise we might have had to drink a warm beer for dinner.
After an extended breakfast, John and Liz gave us a lift to Tehachapi. On the way we had a short stop at the fire station. As wild fires are a big issue at the moment, Meike tested herself as a firefighter. Hopefully we won't need her skills 😉
On the ride to Palmdale, we again started with a climb and strong head winds. We only had to cross one small pass. Afterwards, the road turned South, so we had more or less tail or side winds for the rest of the day.
Palmdale itself is mostly known for Plant 42, a United States Air Force facility.
We did some grocery shopping in one of those huge malls and continued to our hosts Rob and Evelyn, who made some very delicious burgers for dinner.
