Beginning the journey

Traditionally pilgrims carry a stone to represent their burdens and when the Way releases these burdens they set their stone down. I’ve decided not to bring my burdens and left the stone where I found in my yard.

We made it to Boston with no traffic. Dined at Legal Seafood’s and made our first friends. Carol, John and Alexander visiting their daughter and sister Caroline. Interestingly John was led to the Lord through St. James.Leggi altro

Arrived at St. Jean 8:00PM. Boston to Paris plane, Paris to Bayonne Train and Bayonne to St. Jean. 😅 Settling in to rest.

This is the Hill That Doesn’t End.

Today we walked to Larrasoana. Don’t ask me how far I walked, but it was far! Rain all morning. My stupid Plantar Fasciitis was acting up a bit. Good to know tomorrow’s walk will be less. All the Albergues kick you out by 8:00AM, but tomorrow after our shorter walk our check out will be noon! Quick recovery plan. 😅 LOL Just noticed I didn’t take one picture of the Hill the Never Ends. I guess I was too busy trying to survive. 😆Leggi altro

Pamplona! Running with the bulls

We have arrived at Pamplona! Easy day today and the weather was beautiful.

Had breakfast outside at a lovely “bar” about 45 minutes out of our Albergue.

Bought fruit and water from a vendor on the “Way” who had to hide his fruit because he thought the police were coming.
Who knew he was also a tick-tock sensation!

Stopped and said a prayer a at little church. Not sure why grief came up but I let it have its say, shared it with Christ, non was the wiser and on we went towards are destination.

Our new friend Paris from Texas took a picture of the “Hill the never ended “ it’s included today. That hill was like 3 miles

What day is today anyways!?!

Very grateful for the wonderful gift of the Camino. So many new friends, wonderful villages and stops along the way. The cathedrals and churches welcome us to stop in and reflect. I really appreciate their presence and the quiet space they offer. The camino’s energy was very forward moving at first. I was caught up in it and was feeling as if I needed to dash to the end. When I recognized this oh so typical human quest to rush and win, I started walking my own “Way” and its felt better since.Leggi altro

Walking up Wine Mountain to Sansol

There is a spigot in the side of the mountain that offers you wine. Very symbolic of the Camino Trail. She offers us gifts along the Way, it’s up to us to keep them holy

The Maseta

The Maseta is the part of the Camino that leads you from challenging your body to clearing your mind. It is open sky and more desolate but we found it lovely today.

Unintentional PilgrimFound the car in the ditch early morning a bit after sunrise. Signs showed the person crawled out but we still call the police.

Today we made it to St. Martin de Camino. 😅 I carried half a fridge worth of food , waste not want not and all, what a day to add that much weight to my pack!! 😝😳

Journey through the mountains. We met an artist 84 and his son who was a master at plaster sculptures you’ll notice some in my pictures.
