    Drive from Munich to Maribor

    Made sure Lea and Glyn got off ok. Then we headed across Austria and back to Maribor. We have a couple of weeks for planning, helping the local club, watching volleyball (UCLA men are in town) and chillaxing. Plans for hiking the Pohorje, bike rides, and the usual nonsense.Read more

    Sept 10-18

    DRAŠ center - walks, coffees, workouts, rainy weather, pizza, UCLA men’s vball, CJ getting her hair done and taxi service for volleyball kids. Driving to Graz to pickup USA Men’s Volleyball Head Coach / UCLA Head Coach John Speraw!
    Early morning training with the 2009/2010 aged Nova KBM players including our Daša! Drove the crew to school in a DRAŠ van!
    A few rainy days. We dog sat for our friends. So a nice weekend in their home. Rain continues but we still got in a hike (Bill) and stationary bike ride / weights (CJ). Roxy and Daisy had a few walks in between the rain showers.
    Driving to a small village of St Janek. More volleyball score keeping and helping with practices.

    Helping with the volleyball club. Still driving the van as a taxi service after the morning practices to get kids to school. Driving up the 1&1/2 lane roads to bring kids from an away trip to practice.
    Running skills sessions and helping with practices.
    Bill hiked to the top of the Pohojre again it took 2.5 hours (6.5 miles, 2,500 feet of elevation gain) he made a bad decision for the way up (see picture). But his new Solomon hiking shoes were on point!!
    Daisy is the most loved pup at the DRAŠ center - every patron, team, host, waiter and waitress knows her!Still driving kids to school after early morning practice. Found a cool little workout area in the mountains.

    Bike ride on the 23rd down to the Drava River - forest paths to gravel paths to river path! Daisy’s first euro bike ride.

    Keeping the scoreboard for the Maribor Cup volleyball tourney and working with the youth teams this week! A lot of fun! Reconnecting with a good coaching friend Zoran in Maribor too!

    Bill walked this morning and enjoyed the 63 degrees. CJ went to the weight room. Afterwards we drove to e’Leclerc (European Walmart) and got some provisions / snacks / shampoo / lotion etc. We drove to a ‘historical’ site but it was an abandoned building so we found a small park (no picnic tables) to enjoy our sandwiches and Smoki (peanut flavored but Cheeto texture- a puff of peanut yumminess). Went back into a store named Bauhaus (Home Depot) and. Rutar (IKEA- XXL furniture type store and home goods). There was an inviting spiral ramp to each floor instead of stairs. We enjoyed comparing things we are used to at home vs Europe. Back to the Draš for reading and a nap!!!!
    Practice with our buddy Nika! Under 12s OTP Branik kids! A good time. Daisy enjoyed the huddle and cheer! We have now been to several gyms. Lukna (big and small) and Lukna means hole!!!! Tabor gym and the Draš gym - we also had carpool today with two groups - kids here don’t drive until they are 18 however they must pay a driving school €2000 for a license and I guarantee. It’s expensive for 50 hours worth of training. We know our way around pretty good now.
