Flying with British Airways today, good use of Companion Vouchers and air miles. Delayed flight due to weather conditions in London, so Trina squeezed in some more work at the airport. We were the last ones to board the aircraft 🙈Read more

Short but sweet flight! Planning to take the local bus to Liberation Station. St Hellier will be our home base here for the weekend. Getting wifi and data is a struggle, we definitely need to download an offline map!Read more

Dinner near Central Market

St Hellier is such a small town. Most restaurants were booked up and so we go Chinese instead for tea (Princess Garden) before finding our way to our bnb further in town. Had spare ribs in honey sauce to start, and roast pork + beef & broccoli for mains. Alex approved!Read more

Excellent breakfast served to us at our bnb. Enough to fuel us for a day of exploring around the island. We plan to go South West and back to St Helier, and then later explore the East side.

Havre des Pas

Nearest beach from our bnb. We decided to walk this route all the way back to Liberation Station. There’s an outdoor swimming pool here too that looked much like an infinity pool connected to the bay. There once was a fort here as this used to be a landing point for enemies trying to invade the island. Eventually became a shipyard in the 18th century.Read more

Quick stop at Liberty Square before we take the local bus to La Corbiere, which lies in the Southwestern point of Jersey.

La Corbiere

Now we’re on the southwest corner of Jersey island. We’re actually now closer to France than England! La Corbiere was the 1st concrete lighthouse in the world. It’s surrounded by WWII monuments (Tobruk Stands & a German Naval Tower) - particularly because the Channel Islands were the only part of British Isles ever to be occupied by Germans during WW2, and was the most heavily fortified part of Hitler’s ‘Atlantic Wall’. The shoreline of La Corbier was considered to be one of the most endangered bays in Jersey, so Hitler covered this zone by at least 2 Strongpoints (most heavily defended position in the German Infantry).

St Brelade’s Bay

Pronounced ‘St Breh-lard’ // This is one of Jersey’s beautiful south-facing beaches! Loved by visitors for its golden fine sand and safe swimming. We loved how clean this beach is, and somewhat quiet when we visited! It is lined with restaurants and cafes to choose from, but we had brought our own picnic. Tried to shoo couple of cheeky Larry’s 🦆 away wanting our cheese & crackers.Read more

Literally just stopped here for Jersey ice cream & the craft markets! We saw Le Petit Train where tourists can book to learn more about St Aubin. It was too touristy for us haha but still an interesting sight to see.Read more

Mont Orguiel Castle

Pronounced as ‘Mont Or-guy’ // translated ‘Mount Pride’. Perhaps Jersey’s most iconic site & a symbol of the island’s unique relationship with the English crown. It protected Jersey against French invasion over 600 years ago. Plenty of staircases to climb and secret rooms to discover inside. Atop the Mont Orguiel, we saw a breathtaking panoramic view over the east of the island and towards France. Well worth the entrance fee!Read more

Back at St Helier after a long day of exploring the island! We immediately chased the sunset @ the marina overlooking the Elizabeth Castle. Dinner is planned again in town and then we’ll head back to our bnb to rest up — plenty of walking was had today!Read more

We’re on the first flight back✈️

Took the taxi to the airport this morning. Paid in cash (interestingly Jersey has Pounds Sterling as currency but has completely different banknotes!) We were way too early, airport’s not even open 😆 So endured 30mins out in the cold 🙈 But now we’re in! First flight out of Jersey today, heading back to London Heathrow. We can’t wait to continue our sleep in our own bed 😴Read more
