Day 14 Burgos
Distance from Atapuerca to Burgos 20kms

A very cold start of 3c with a bitterly cold wind at our backs. At this point we are up around 1100m and cold temperatures are to be expected at this time of year. We stopped for a delicious breakfast at a cosy bar with the fire going we struggled to get going again. But get going we had to and soon fell into our walking rhythm. Entering into Burgos was through the outer suburbs and not quite what we are used to but we soon came upon the city Centre with its striking Cathedral as its centerpiece. The city was buzzing with pilgrims and tourists and the funky cafes and bars spilling with people and counters displaying their appetizing tapas.
By the time we had walked around the city centre checking out and planning what we might be seeing tomorrow we had clocked up 36kms for the day. We had booked an apartment close to the Cathedral and are taking “a rest day” tomorrow for sightseeing. In the meantime we have enjoyed doing our laundry oh such simple things in life!Read more
