Pago Pago (pronounced ?Pongo Pongo -maybe due to the tuna cannery) was our first day release from the ship. The welcome was warm, but wet. We obviously had not made a sufficient sacrifice to Ra. Where are the kids when you need them?

Hiking plans were washed away. It ended up being a speed dating style tour of the island with our super friendly but NESB taxi driver who we found on the day. The island is amazingly lush, with scattered colourful villages complete with roaming chickens and small crops.
Back on board it was pirate day. We didn't really get into the crazy dancing side of the celebrations, preferring to get some R&R.Read more
