We took a two hour drive to the other side of the island to check out a hike into this gorge. The drive was something else. We had to cross over the mountains, and going down the other side involved, hairpin turn after hairpin, turn. When that was done, and we made it to the sea, we had to turn around and go back up another mountain, which also involved hairpin turn after hairpin turn.
The hike didn't start very nice, but it turned out to be a pretty cool hike. You hike up to the edge of the gorge, and looking down, you see all the switchbacks going down and then back up the other side right in front of you. The trail actually goes into a cave and then back out on its way up the hill. At the top, on the other side, you enter the historic village of Aradina. It's mostly ruins now, but there are still people living there. Mostly, goat farmers.
Instead of hiking back into the gorge and up, we decided to cross the bridge and take the road back. It's a one lane bridge, and although modern, it looked a little sketchy.
And of course, the drive home required traversing the same roads we took on the way there. Czytaj więcej
